Sorry for the delay! I obviously wasn't able to make the chart from Chicago, so here is this week's Braintree Top 40 on Monday. Jess Glynne continues her stay at #1 for a fifth week, closing in on "The Middle," which holds the record at six. How does "I'll Be There" keep mowing downt eh competition? She is slowly but surely connecting with each member of the Braintree Top 40 as Breagh discovered the song this week and made it her top song. Celina brings Kelly Clarkson back to the top 2 with "Heat." This isn't the first time the song has threatened the top position. It seems every few weeks, Celina just gets the urge to belt out the American Idol's hottest songs.
We see three new songs enter the top ten with one being the hot shot debut of the week! Selena Gomez hits the top ten for the third time. We also see Rita Ora's female posse enter the top ten at #8, adding to each lady's total: Rita Ora - 2, Cardi B - 3, Bebe Rexha - 4, Charli XCX - 4. Bebe Rexha is the hot shot debut at "I'm A Mess" entering at #10. As I just mentioned, she now has four top tens, the 4th most ever, tied with Marshmello, MAGIC GIANT, and Charli XCX.
Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj debut togetehr on two new songs as "Bed" comes in at #13 while "the light is coming" arrives at #24. Can either of them duplicate the success that "Side to Side" had last year? We'll see if it can catch on to the rest of Braintree. The Bubbling Under looks to be working as three of last week's songs joined the top 40 this week! Aside from "Bed," "bitches" and "Can I Get Your Number" both come in at #20 and 40, respectively. We also got our first World Cup song to appear this week! New Order's 1990 World CUp song for England appears at #33 and hopefully motivates the Three Lions to go far!
Emm!e continues to make "Jump" a threat as the song is her top song of the week yet again. She also keeps "Go Bang" and "Delicate" on the chart as well as "Back to You." Daina just barely missed the chart with week with Kesha's version of The Greatest Showman's "This Is Me." Better luck next week, Daina! Aside from "Heat," Celina also brought back "Meaning of Life" and "Let Me Go" and kept "2002" in the top half of the chart. Emily got her girl, Betty Who, to chart at #32 with "Just Thought You Should Know" from ehr new EP. SHe also continues to jam out to her song of the summer as "La Cintura" stays her top song for another week.
Breagh was a major influencer this week as she discovered the Braintree Top 40 playlist. Not only did she keep "I'll Be There" on top, but she also helped out "Delicate," "Bloom," "One Kiss," and "1950." Sara influenced her first entry this week! Her one play of Kanye West's "Ghost Town" just barely got him to chart at #35. Congrats, Sara! Catie was only able to manage a single entry, a new debut from the Kanye West/Kid Cudi project, "Cudi Montage" at #34.
Next week (right now, weird) we don't see many big debuts and of the songs that came out, none of them are very good. We do see Bebe Rexha drop her debut album, so that could influence the chart and The Carters finally put their album on Spotify, so we'll see if that can do some damage. Will "I'll Be There" tie the record of most weeks at #1 or will Kelly Clarkson, Julia Michaels, or an unknown contender finally stop her? Find out next week on the Braintree Top 40!
