Top 100 Songs Of The Year 2021

2021 was an incredible year for music, with some incredible singles and albums released throughout it! This is a list of my top 100 songs of the year, but of course there were way more than 100 songs so it was quite a challenge trying to condense it down! This year brought the return of the pop-punk/ rock music to the charts, lead by the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Maneskin, WILLOW, GAYLE and even punk queen herself Avril Lavigne! It brought new stars such as Maisie Peters, Olivia Rodrigo, Becky Hill, Mimi Webb & Maneskin to light and also showed the return of icons such as Adele, ABBA and Elton John!

This year brought some incredible acts to the spotlight, such as Maisie Peters! Her debut album You Signed Up For This was a smash, claiming 2 #1’s from it and 7 top 10’s! Her song I’m Trying (Not Friends) also tied with Maneskin for most weeks in the top 3, both claiming 6 consecutive weeks! Becky Hill also had success this year, with 5 top 10’s from her album and the single My Heart Goes (La Di Da) reached the top spot too!

Olivia Rodrigo does, however, take the crown for most successful new act of 2021, with her single good 4 u spending 4 weeks at #1 and 28 weeks in the chart, longer than any song this year. Billie Eilish also spent 4 weeks at #1 with Happier Than Ever in the summer. The crown for most weeks at #1 is taken by Taylor Swift, however, as her 10 minute version of All Too Well has spent 5 weeks at #1 (at the time of writing). Her re-recordings of her old albums in order to own the masters rights has been a huge success on the chart, with Red (Taylor’s Version) “breaking the chart” with 29 out of the 30 songs debuting simultaneously in the top 50! She is also the only artist to manage to take up the entire top 10!

Little Mix also had a great year, proving that they are still as strong as ever, even as a trio! Heartbreak Anthem reached #1 this year, and they claimed multiple top 10’s this year too! And although sadly they are taking a hiatus, I’m sure they will be back stronger than ever!

Eurovision had a huge impact this year, with multiple songs from the competition charting. Maneskin, the 2021 winners, had a massive year with their Singles I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE, ZITTI E BUONI & Beggin’ all being huge!

I also finally was able to see Dermot Kennedy live in concert after a year and a half, which was incredible. I love his music and his 2021 single Better Days was incredible! And although it didn’t match Giants as biggest song of the year,  it is still the 3rd biggest which is great! Fingers crossed he releases his 2nd album next year!

Overall its been an incredible year and I am looking forward to a great 2022 with more incredible music! For now though, I wish you all a nice festive break!

PS. I would also like to thank  Piran, Sergejdordij and Link100100 for making me feel so welcome on Crownnote since I joined in May, it means a lot and I am so grateful for you guys! I can’t wait to see and compare your charts into the new year! <3

Hi Conor!
A fantastic Year-End list overall.
I really like most of the songs on here.
Glad about the top 10, all great songs.
Also love seeing a lot of Maisie on your Year-End list
I would've counted the songs I like a lot from your Year-End list, but it would take a lot of time! I like almost all songs on here.
Great Year-End list overall and thank you for mentioning me in your Year-End chart, wishing you a happy 2022 and may the new year bring good fortune and more amazing music in our lives!

Thank you sergej!! I'm glad you like the songs, and the top 10, all such great songs! I'm so glad we both fell in love with Maisie this year, shes so talented and I look forward to seeing what she brings next year! Thanks fro commenting an dsupporting this year and I agree with the last point! Have a nice christmas and new year and I look forward to 2022!

Hey Conor! :)
What an incredible Year-End list! I absolutely love how similar our music tastes are, haha.
Firstly, it's amazing to see Olivia Rodrigo with the chart double, as 'Good 4 U' takes #1 on the singles chart & 'Sour' leads on the albums chart!
We also share 'Heartbreak Anthem' & 'Psycho' in our Top 10's, as well as both of us having a Taylor song inside the region.
While it didn't perform as well in my charts as it did in yours, it's awesome that 'Happier Than Ever' made it to the runner-up position!
Once again, your music taste has been really fun to chat about this year.
Wishing you all the best for 2022!

Hey Piran! Thank you! I know its so cool finding someone who shares the same taste of music as you! Olivia had such a good year this year! Heartbreak Anthem are both absolutely incredible songs too! I completely agree and I look forward discussing our similarites in music next year! You too Piran, have a great 2022 too!

Impressive Top 100!
I am happy Taylor and Olivia dominate this year. I am so happy that there is appreciation for Maisie Peters, her debut album is flawless.
I feel that our Top 100 may mirror each other to some extent as our music tastes of somewhat similar.

Thank you! I was so obsessed with SOUR, such a great album, and evermore and the Taylor re-recordings were incredible! Maisie is so amazing and talented, I love her and her album so much! That's great, I look forward to seeing your top 100 soon!
