Sergej's Personal Chart 23.08.2024

Before I get into the personal highlights, I might not be able to do my charts for the next week, mainly because I'm traveling to Italy for a summer vacation. So the next 2 charts will be made when I come home again.

Also, I apologize in advance that the charts in the next few months will be hectic and crazy, but I have more focus in other things, mainly getting a new job. I lost my job on Tuesday and fell into depression.
I am hoping that soon I find a new job as quick as possible and can get back into music enjoyment again.
So, if you see a song you like so much and it falls on my chart, please be gentle and don't get into ALL CAPS, it's because I am concentrating on finding a new job and music is for me now more like a hobby.

Sergej's Personal Highlights:
- Tananai & Annalisa are cementing "Storie Brevi" as the song of the summer this year with an eight-week non consecutive reign at #1.
- Alvaro Soler rises up to #2 with "Te Imaginaba", getting a new peak after eight weeks charting, closing in on a possible eighth #1 for Alvaro next week, if he makes it though.
- The classic "Self Control" from 1984, covered by the late great Laura Branigan and the original by italian singer Raf, gets a new facelift, thanks to german duo FAST BOY who collaborate with the man who sang the original "Self Control", to make "Wave", which climbs to the top 5 at #5.

- Alessandra Amoroso & BigMama rise back up to #6 with "Mezzo Rotto".
- The highest debut this week comes from two pop giants, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, they come together and debut at #7 with "Die With A Smile".
- Finally in the top 10, Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding return to the top 10 with "Free" at #10.
- Other debuts this week (outside of Gaga & Bruno) include: Hozier, The Blessed Madonna & Kylie Minogue, Sevdaliza/Pabllo Vittar/Yseult, AYLIVA, BL3SS & CamrinWatsin, Maren Morris, Kygo/Julia Michaels/Chance Peña and Samu Haber

This Week's Movers & Shakers:

The Song with Most total weeks on the Chart

'The Code' - Nemo (20 weeks)

Highest New Entry

'Die Wth A Smile' – Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars (#7)

Biggest Climber

'BACKBONE' – Chase & Status & Stormzy (▲41)

Biggest Faller

'Ela' – Željko Joksimović (▼29)

Highest Dropout

'JOYRIDE' – Kesha (#58)

The Song of the Week for the next two weeks to check out is: R3HAB & Sophie and the Giants - "All Night"

The vacation weeks kick off with the new track from R3HAB x Sophie and the Giants! Short and snappy, the song sends everyone to the dancefloor and it's called “All Night”. It's about letting yourself go, seeking the thrill and celebrating life - day and night.
In “All Night”, R3HAB's dynamic production meets Sophie's poppy vocals, accompanied by a well-known melody: Blue's worldwide platinum pop hit “All Rise” from 2001.

One rule for my "Song of the Week" choice, it has to be released on release date and it doesn't have to be the highest debut. The Track might not necessarily debut on Sergej's Personal Chart This Week.

My #1 songs of 2024:
- Lena - Straitjacket (2 weeks (4 weeks in total))
- Felix Jaehn & Leony - Waking Up (1 week)

Hi Sergej,

Very happy to see Jimin here and Shawn Mendes! Rooting for "Anything" by Griff to keep rising in the coming weeks and also Sabrina following the release of 'Short n Sweet'.

Great chart again!

Hi there!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing Jimin and Shawn Mendes on the chart! Fingers crossed for "Anything" by Griff to keep climbing—it's such a great track. And Sabrina's "Short n Sweet" has some track that are definitely one to watch. Appreciate your support!

We'll See how much of this will Ring true, when I'm Home after vacation.

Thank You for your comment and Take Care!

Hey Sergej! :)

Sorry to hear about your job situation, but I hope you have a nice vacation in Italy.

I like the debuts for 'Die With A Smile', 'Edge Of Saturday Night' & 'Alibi'!

Good chart yet again.

Take care!

Hey there!

Thank you! I like my time here in Italy, it definitely did me very good.

I'm glad you liked the debuts of 'Die With A Smile', 'Edge Of Saturday Night' and 'Alibi'! It's always nice to hear that the songs are well received.

Thank you for your feedback and support. Take care!

Hi Sergej! ;)

With eight non-consecutive weeks at #1, will "Storie Brevi" be the Song of the Year 2024? Congratulations on the lovely #2 with "Te Imaginaba"—I wonder if this is the highest-charting Spanish song in SPC.

The '80s sound is back in the chart with the cover of the unforgettable Laura Branigan's "Wave." This version makes me want to dance.

The Top 20 looks great with new peaks for "Miami" and "Move." The jumps by "Backbone," my favorite "Angel Of My Dreams," "Liar," "Up All Night," "Ever Seen," "Cry Baby," and Lil Nas X's new track "Here We Go!" (I hope he learned from his previous flop) also stand out. I'm glad to see the resurgence of "Karma," "Piano," and "Espresso."

Great debut for "Die With A Smile" at #7. It's a beautiful song, though it follows the same style as previous Bruno Mars hits; let's see how it performs internationally. I'm thrilled with the debut of "Nobody's Soldier" (this definitely sounds different for Hozier), "Edge of Saturday Night," "Alibi" (it was about time it appeared on your chart), the delightful "Push Me Over," and "Louder." Great chart/playlist as usual.

I read in your comments that you're heading off on vacation again, and upon your return, you'll be focusing on work. I wish you all the best in achieving your plans and projects. Sending you a big hug from afar!

Hey there!

Thanks for your wonderful message and all the kind words! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the current Top 20, and you really nailed it with your observations! "Storie Brevi" is indeed proving to be a real contender for Song of the Year 2024. Eight non-consecutive weeks at #1 is a huge achievement, but there’s still time left this year, so anything can happen! And yes, "Te Imaginaba" reaching #2 is amazing—I'm also thrilled to see a Spanish song charting that high on SPC. Alvaro's Songs tend to do Well on my Charts and some of His Songs also got to #1.

The ‘80s are definitely back with a bang! The new version of "Wave" really captures the spirit of Laura Branigan's classic "Self Control", and it’s so fun to see everyone enjoying that throwback vibe again. I’m glad to hear it makes you want to dance—mission accomplished!

The current chart is full of exciting moments. "Miami" and "Move" are doing so well, and I totally agree with you about those jumps—"Backbone," "Angel Of My Dreams," "Liar," and all the others they could make the Top 20 dynamic. I’m especially happy to see "Karma," "Piano," and "Espresso" making a comeback. Lil Nas X is definitely hoping "Here We Go!" will perform better than his last attempt!

"Die With A Smile" debuting at #7 is impressive! It's got that classic Bruno Mars charm, but it will be interesting to see how it fares internationally. "Nobody’s Soldier" from Hozier is indeed a different sound for him, and I’m loving it. I’m also excited about "Edge of Saturday Night," "Alibi," "Push Me Over," and "Louder" joining the mix—so much great music to look forward to!

Thank you so much for the well wishes! I’m looking forward to the vacation and then diving back into some exciting projects. Your support and kind words mean the world to me. Sending you a big hug back and wishing you all the best!

Take care and keep enjoying the music!

Ahoy, Sergej!

You don't need us to tell you, but I hope you have an amazing vacation with little thought about the domestic situation. Milk every minute!

Life can be a kick in the prizes sometimes but you got this! Stay strong, think positive and you'll be in the place you're meant to be at the time you're meant to be there!

Wishing you all the best!

Ahoy, Maxon!

Thank you for the encouraging words!

I really appreciate you thinking of me and giving me so much positive energy. You're right—sometimes life doesn't go the way you want it to, but you have to keep looking forward and make the most of every moment. Your support really means a lot to me!

I wish you all the best too and look forward to hearing from you again soon!

All the best and see you soon!
