Lewis Top 40

This week sees Emma Blackery continue to dominate the Top 10 with Sucks To Be You staying at #1 for the third week in a row, while Nothing Without You loses it's #2 spot to Lucy Spraggan's whose Christmas track Drink 'Til We Go Home manages to peak at #2, just one place off of dethroning the Blackery Brigade which has swarmed the Top 10 this week. Emma has three other songs in the Top 10 with Don't Come Home being pushed down to #4 by Spraggan; Go The Distance falling down to #8 and Let Me Be managing to crack the Top 10 and get it's peak placement at #10.

Sheppard break the Top 5 for the first time this week, with Coming Home climbing an impressive 10 spots to chart at #5 after a debut at #15, last week. Eminem's River has also had an impressive climb, this week, entering the top 10 at #6. Carly's Roses has also managed to re-enter the Top 10 while the Eurovision hit Yodel It! spends it's fourth consecutive week within the Top 10 - the current record holder for this achievement.

The Pogues just barely miss out on the Top 10 with Fairytale of New York, falling 3 spaces - a sign of things to come now that the festive period is well and truley over. Blackery's The Promise has also left the Top 10. Ed Sheeran and Nina Nesbitt dominate the mid tens, pushed aside by the appearance of Emma Blackery in to my music library and by some more varied tunes, which are having a chance to shine right now. Nina's Way in the World climbs to it's peak position at #14, while The Best You Had plummets from it's unusual rise last week back to it's usual space in the mid tens. On the other hand, Mr C has risen massively from the mid 30s to the mid 10s - which is a solid sign that the Blackery days could be wavering and Nesbitt could once again reclaim her throne at the top. Ed's Drunk also reaches it's current peak at #18.

Sheeran's tracks in the early 20s also suggest a resurgence of the old classics that used to dominate my streaming habits as Afire Love sees significant rising to it's peak position at #20, Perfect is up 3 spaces and Castle on the Hill climbs 8 to it's peak position.

This week shows the third week of Blackery dominance but the falling of both The Promise and Let Me Be could suggest that those days are coming to an end and with some of Ed and Nina's tracks rising up the 10s and 20s, it's likely that the end of 2017 and the last month being so dedicated towards different music will see the two return to the top of the charts and we could have another Number #1 by next week, depending on the staying power of the powerhouse tracks like Sucks To Be You, Nothing Without You and Don't Come Home.
