Chart

My Top 50

CHART FACTS THIS WEEK:

Kiyoko rises to the Top 10: The lead single to Japanese-American singer Hayley Kiyoko's upcoming debut album 'Expectations', titled "Curious" makes the biggest gain on the chart this week, jumping 28 spots. The song rises 35-7, giving Kiyoko her first Top 10 entry.

(American) Pop making a play: The pop genre gains 10% in chart spots, nearing the dominant genre of hip-hop. The biggest players here were Drake Bell and Aaron Carter, as the former's "Rewind" re-enters at #14 off of its music video. Aaron Carter makes his return to the Top 50 with a remix of his 2000 hit cover of "I Want Candy", which debuts at #21. Both songs are expected to jump into the Top 10 next week, with "Rewind" making a play for #1. America also takes a hefty lead over the runner-up country of Japan, now having over half of the chart.

Promising youthAmerican singer Sophie Pecora enters the Top 40 for the first time with her cover of The Pretenders' 1994 hit "I'll Stand By You". This is her second chart entry, followed "Best Friends For Cheddar", an original track that featured comedian and YouTuber Shane Dawson (which peaked at #42). She is the youngest artist to ever chart in the Top 40, being 14 years old. She overtakes Japanese rapper MIRI, who is 19. Counting groups and featured appearances, former RHYMEBERRY member MC MISAKI is the second youngest artist to make the Top 40, being 18.

Hatsune Miku debuts the feelsJapanese vocaloid Miku returns to the Top 50 at #45 with "Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu -DEAD END-", or "The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku". She is still the only vocaloid to ever chart on her own. The depressing tune has Miku realizing she'll never be equal to a human being, that she's valued only as a computer program and for entertainment. All the more ironic that she's charting here because of my enjoyment. In the song, Miku sings: "I'll end my life as a diva, and scream as if in pain...", and "I was born, and then I realized , I am but a simulation". A lot of vocaloid songs that aren't happy tend to go for shock horror, but this... this is just sad.

Good chart as usual Naos! :)
You said I'd like the debuts this week & I do indeed, especially: 'Mine', 'The Middle', 'Strangers' & 'IDGAF', as all of these songs are currently inside my Top 15.
It's interesting to see 'Rewind' jump to #1 next week! Didn't he just release a video for that which did reasonably well on trending?
I look forward to your next chart!

I'm glad you like all those debuts! "Mine" is looking to make a big jump next week. And yes, "Rewind" made #12 on Trending, and already has 320,000 views despite being released on Wednesday. For reference, the video for "Honest" just barely crossed 300k, despite it being released in January.

I like "Filthy", "Marry Me", "Let You Down", "MIC Drop", "Lights Down Low", "Say Something", "Best Friend", "Mine", "The Middle", and "Break A Little".

Ugh... Dua Lipa's new single is here...

I'm not surprised you don't like Dua Lipa's new single. Glad to see you like all that too.
