CLOSE YOUR EYES leads the Top 10 of the month with new album 'blackout' with a major lead.
On our first album chart of the year (and y'know... second to last since we're starting so late) CLOSE YOUR EYES has taken over the chart at #1 with a major gap. With all of it's songs charting Top 5 on the Weekly Top 100 it was no doubt that "blackout" would take over the album chart as well with a strong lead.
In second place is JUST B's new album "SNOW ANGEL" with 6 tracks of pure EDM and hyperpop which are two genres I love so much, I just had to rank this album high because it's immediately become one of my favourites of the year and a project that has genuine passion in it and for the genre. It feels like an album of what my favourite tracks on separate albums would be all in one.
In third place is XLOV's new project "UXLXVE". XLOV is such a refreshing breath of fresh air in the K-POP industry and getting to feel that impact on a full mini album of undeniable queerness. Every track despite unfortunately being short which is it's only hinderance, has so much care and a message behind it.
In 4th place comes from last month's "Back To Life" from the J-POP group &TEAM, who made their Korean debut with this project. This album is everything &TEAM in one 6 track listen. Every sound you hear throughout their discography even some newer ones that still feel so undeniably them, this is a perfect album for any first time fans.
5th place is taken by xikers' "HOUSE OF TRICKY : WRECKING THE HOUSE", the final installment of their HOUSE OF TRICKY series. Similarly to what I said about &TEAM, this album is xikers' in the fullest but also the freshest way you can imagine. Every track on this album is familiar, but also fresh. They've established their own sound that any time they release a project it's just easy to tell right away that this is xikers.
"As I Am" from boy group TEMPEST comes in at 6th. This is a very enjoyable 5 track mini album with some of the strongest songs in their entire career such as 'nocturnal' or 'In the Dark', and these tracks uplift the album incredibly. It's a very cohesive project very TEMPEST, but 'CHILL' and 'How deep is your love?' aren't songs I've revisited as much.
At 7th is NEWBEAT's "LOUDER THAN EVER" a very short 4 song project from the new group which hinders it's position, but a very shocking one and one that rightfully earned it's spot. With NEWBEAT's debut it was enjoyable, but only a few songs felt out of the ordinary in the boygroup world, but "LOUDER THAN EVER" stands out in ways their debut didn't with only four tracks and it's a sound I'd like to see them stick with.
At 8th place is ITZY's "TUNNEL VISION", which I'm inclined to believe is some of ITZY's best work. Every song takes you into it's own world every song is crafted in perfect detail and gives them many career highs that I'll be coming back to. It's only this low as I haven't gotten the chance to listen to much of it due to many new releases.
Shooting up into 9th place on the last week of the month is Calum Hood's "ORDER chaos ORDER". This project was dropped earlier in the year but I had the fortune of discovering it this past week while going down a 5SOS spree, and thankfully came across this incredible project which immediately became one of my favourites of the year.
Which brings us to 10th place, which is 5 Seconds Of Summer's "EVERYONE'S A STAR!" which went up in my listening's a lot this past week especially with tracks such as the title track and 'istillfeelthesame' which are gradually growing on the weekly chart. I've had a lot of fun with this album and I only expect it to grow over time!
