Crownnote is where music fans share their favorite songs.

NOTE: As of January 16, 2022, Leaderboards remain disabled while we continue to troubleshoot speed issues. Other features (chart dropouts, chart peaks/weeks, detailed plain-text chart info) have returned, though we are continuing to monitor for any slow-loading pages.

This privacy policy details how Crownnote uses and protects any personally-identifiable information you provide while using the site. Your information will only be used in accordance with this privacy policy.

This policy may be changed if and when necessary. By using Crownnote, you agree to the details of this privacy policy.

What information we collect

When using Crownnote, we may ask for some or all of the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your location

While using Crownnote, the site and its third-party services, including but not limited to Google reCAPTCHA and Google Analytics, may collect some or all of the following information, both directly (through user-input data) and indirectly (through data collection as you access the site):

  • Your IP address
  • Your geographic location
  • Your browser type and version
  • Your device type and operating system version
  • Your referral source
  • Browsing-related activity including your length of visit, pages viewed, keywords in searches performed

How your information is used

Crownnote requires the use of your data for, including but not limited to, the following purposes:

  • Internal logging and record-keeping
  • Access to and management of your user account on Crownnote
  • User account confirmation, reset, and other notifications sent to your email address

Cookies and IP addresses

Crownnote uses small text files, called cookies, to store information in your web browser. The information stored may include preferences, session identification, HTTP information, and IP address.

You can set your browser to not receive cookies, but this may limit or negatively impact your ability to use Crownnote, including access to your account.

IP addresses of computers used to visit Crownnote are stored in our database. This includes when first registering for an account, managing your account details, posting content on the site, or performing any other transaction which results in data being transferred to or from your computer and the website in question. While your IP address is stored in the website's database and may be visible to administrative staff, e.g. when reviewing logs, it is not made visible to the public at any time.

Links to other websites

Pages on Crownnote may contain links to other websites. These websites may or may not be affiliated with Crownnote.

Crownnote has no control over any external websites; therefore, clicking any link which results in you visiting an external website will result in this privacy policy no longer applying. Crownnote cannot be held responsible for the protection and privacy of any information you provide while visiting such sites.

Control of personal information

As a registered user, you have the ability to edit your personal information (including your username, email address, password, pronouns, timezone, country, avatar, and contact preferences) at any time by editing your account.

Crownnote will not sell, distribute, or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your explicit permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to contact you with information related to your account or to Crownnote.

If you need to change any personally-identifiable information and are unable to do so, please contact us so we can help make any necessary changes.

Your user-generated chart data can be exported to CSV files at any time from their respective pages.

You may also delete your user account at any time. Doing so will retain your content, but list it under an "Anonymous" username so that it is no longer connected to your now-deleted account.
