Chart

My Top 40 - 01/01/2017

Carlos Vives and Shakira enter 2017 with the #1 song, as "La Bicicleta" spends a second week at the top of the chart. Shakira also reaches another milestone as "Chantaje", featuring Maluma, is #3 this week, it's highest rank to date.

While "La Bicicleta" has been a pretty strong performer so far, The Weeknd and Daft Punk are right behind it with their second smash hit in a row, as "I Feel It Coming" is looking like a strong contender to return to the top spot. The track has already spent 3 weeks there. "I Feel It Coming" is the second single from Starboy, The Weeknd's third album, and it follows the title track (which already reached #1, and moves up two spots to #6 this week) and promotional release "False Alarm", (which also reached #1 for a week, and remains at #16 this week). Two more Starboy tracks are on the chart this week ("Secrets" drops to #18 from it's #9 peak, while "Party Monster" drops to #30 from it's #24 peak).

Another song looking like a strong contender is Bebe Rexha's "I Got You" after debuting at #5, the track managed to move up another spot this week, as former #1 hit "Rockabye" drops to #5. Clean Bandit's hit has spent all of it's chart life so far inside the top 10.

Just like Shakira, Daft Punk and The Weeknd, Drake also has two songs in the top 10 this week, as "Fake Love" drops one spot to #7 and "One Dance" rebouns to #9 in it's 29th week on the chart. While "Love" has reached a #5 peak so far, "Dance" debuted at #1 back in May, and it benefits from heavy year-end play.

Other tracks benefitting from the end of 2016 are former #1 hits like Ariana Grande's "Into You" (up 20-14), Calvin Harris & Rihanna's "This Is What You Came For" (up a single spot to #22), The Chainsmokers' "Closer" and "Don't Let Me Down" (the Halsey assisted hit is up one spot to #24, while the Daya feature earns Greatest Gainer honors by moving 39-25), Rihanna's "Work" also featuring Drake (#26), Fifth Harmony's "Work From Home" (re-enters at #36), Major Lazer's "Light It Up" (another re-entry at #39) and Calvin Harris' "My Way" (#40).

Also on the top 10 this week, two former #1 hits re-enter as Ariana Grande's "Side to Side" and Rihanna's "Love on the Brain" both move up three spots.

No new songs enter the chart this week, but Sia's "Alive" makes a big re-entry at #29 this week, after peaking at #3. Two more Sia songs are on the chart this week ("The Greatest" featuring Kendrick Lamar, which already reached #1 is at #13, and "Move Your Body" is at #38, and has so far topped at #14).

Greatest Gainer:

The Chainsmokers ft. Daya - "Don't Let Me Down" (moves 39-25 this week)

Dropping this week:

The Chainsmokers ft. Charlee – “Inside Out” (#33 peak, 1 week on the chart)
Fifth Harmony – “That's My Girl” (#10 peak, 12 weeks on the chart)
Lady Gaga – “Million Reasons” (#5 peak, 7 weeks on the chart)
The Chainsmokers ft. XYLØ – “Setting Fires” (#33 peak, 5 weeks on the chart)
