Chart

My Top 50 01/07/2018

"Havana" gets tenth week at #1, Halsey gets new peak as multiple new songs start their chart runs with 2018.

Camila Cabello and Young Thug start 2018 at #1 with "Havana", earning a tenth non-consecutive week at the top spot. This is the first 10-week #1 since Adele's "Hello" ruled the chart for ten consecutive weeks starting in late 2015. The former Fifth Harmony singer also earns her third top 10 hit this week with "Never Be The Same" jumping to #7 on it's fifth week. It follows "Havana" and "Crying in the Club" (#10)

Cabello blocks Halsey from earning her second #1 hit after "Closer" with the Chainsmokers, as her "Bad at Love" jumps four spots to a new #2 peak. It's easily the highest peak for a Halsey solo song yet. Her collaboration with G-Eazy, "Him & I", is looking like a strong contender as well, jumping six spots this week to #11.

2017's biggest song, "New Rules" falls one spot to #3 on it's 30th week on the chart. The next single from Dua Lipa's self-titled debut album, "IDGAF" jumps ten spots this week to a new #15 peak.

Another artist celebrating a new peak is "Anywhere" singer Rita Ora, with that track jumping from it's previous #9 high point to #4. Ora reached #3 with Avicii on "Lonely Together" and topped the chart solo with "Your Song".

Ed Sheeran retreats to #5 with "Perfect". Selena Gomez and Marshmello follow with a one spot fall to #6 with "Wolves". Another Marshmello track debuts at #42, the Khalid feature "Silence" (more on Khalid in a minute...)

It's a great start of the year for Cardi B and Bruno Mars, as the "Finesse" remix starts at #8 with only a couple of days of points. For Mars it's already the highest chart entry from his 24K Magic album, outpeaking "That's What I Like" (#9) and the title-track (#12). For Cardi it's easily her highest entry yet, but she also debuts at #24 with G-Eazy and A$AP Rocky on "No Limit", #36 as the lead on "Bartier Cardi" and #38 with Migos and Nicki Minaj on "MotorSport". Her previous hit "Bodak Yellow" went as high as #31 last year. Back to "Finesse" though, as it's looking like a strong contender for the top spot next week, which would be the first for both acts (Bruno's biggest hits pre-date the chart).

"Bartier Cardi" is 21 Savage's second chart entry, but her celebrates another feature, "rockstar" entering top ten for the first time at #9. It's Post Malone's second entry into the region after the "Homemade Dynamite" remix reached #2 last year.

"Sorry Not Sorry" falls six spots and closes this week's top ten. The follow-up single from Demi Lovato's Tell Me You Love Me album, the title track, is steady at #12 and has gone as high as #8.

Aside from the "Finesse" entry, a lot of new songs join the chart, including "Young Dumb & Broke" giving Khalid his first solo entry at #21 (he was also on the "Dynamite" mix, and on Marshmello's "Silence" which also enters this week); SZA's "The Weekend" enters on remix form with Calvin Harris' help at #23, while Shakira's El Dorado album gets a fourth chart entry following #1 hit "La Bicicleta", #2 hit "Chantaje" and top 10 hit "Me Enamoré", with Nicky Jam on "Perro Fiel" at #31.

The week's Greatest Gainer is "I Miss You", which jumps fifteen spots to #22. It follows two #1 hits for Clean Bandit, "Rockabye" and "Symphony".
