Chart

Braintree Top 40

Lizzo is 100% dat bitch this week as "Truth Hurts" jumps to #1 in its 12th week, giving her a 2nd #1 this year, following "Tempo" last spring.  "Pookie" rises to #4 as Celina begins to feel the French groove.  Could it go even further?  We'll have to see.  Lizzo gets another top ten, thanks to Celina, as "Good As Hell" skips to #9.  This is now Lizzo's 5th top ten all in less than a year.  Whitney Houston gets her first #1 while Kygo gets his 3rd as "Higher Love" finally hits #10 this week.  Shawn Mendes benefits from Tanya attending his concert as "Senorita" rebounds to #7 and "If I Can't Have You" sees a resurgence back to #8.

Alessia Cara also sees a boost from Tanya as she opened for Shawn Mendes.  "Ready" hits a new peak of #25 in its 2nd week.  "bloodline" also re-enters the charts at #27, thanks to Tanya, although the reason for this is unclear.  I guess she just wants Ariana in her bloodline, yuh.  Emily brings Johnny Stimson back to the chart with "IDWLY" at #34.  His biggest hit remains to be "Honeymoon," which was her first dance with Mike at her wedding last year.

Our first Flashback Friday goes to our first #1 ever two years ago - "Boys" by Charli XCX.  This hit defined the summer of 2017 from multiple beach trips to Emily's bachelorette in Newport.  It actually just barely missed this week's chart by 2 plays, so it's only fitting that it makes the playlist anyways with its storied legacy.

Speaking of flashbacks, it's our two-year anniversary of the Braintree Top 40!  Thanks to all the contributors for making this possible and for listening to such great music.  There'd be no chart without all of you.  Want to know what the top songs of the past two years are?  Well, here's the top five:

Next week looks to be a big one with Taylor Swift dropping her new song, "Lover", as well as Normani's long-anticipated debut solo single, "Motivation".  We also see new releases from Miley Cyrus, Macklemore, Charli XCX and X Ambassadors.  Will Taylor Swift get her 5th #1 and tie Dua Lipa for the most or will Normani get her 2nd?  Maybe Lizzo will remain on top for a 2nd week?  Find out next week on the Braintree Top 40!

1. Nina Nesbitt - Colder

2. Labrinth & Zendaya - All For Us

3. Dove Cameron - Rotten to the Core
