Chart

Braintree Top 40

Post Malone continues his reign at #1 as "Circles" earns its 2nd consecutive week at #1.  "Lover" rebounds back to #2 after Breagh realized how incredible the song was last weekend.  "Truth Hurts" also re-enters the top five thanks to Daina being an enormous Lizzbian.  Catie brings two Backstreet Boys songs into the top ten as "Breathe" earns the Biggest Debut of the Week at #8 and "No Place" re-enters the chart at a new peak of #10.  Emily brings Charlie Puth back to the top ten for his 3rd song as "Mother" skyrockets up to #7.

Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Rey just miss the top ten with "Don't Call Me Angel," which debuts at #13 this week thanks mostly to Josh and Tanya.  "I Know" is knocking on the top ten's door at #11, also thanks to Tanya and her newfound love for Posty.  Emily gives Halsye a healthy debut at #15 with her new single, "Graveyard".  Can it match the success of "Without Me" and go #1 or will it stall at #15 just like "Nightmare"?  Only time will tell.

Mike had a big week as he brought 4 JPEGMAFIA tracks onto the chart, adding some hip-hop/rap flair this week.  Emily gave OneRepublic another entry as "Somebody to Love" debuts at #32.  Celina brings "Valerie" back onto the chart with a new peak of #29.  Just earlier today, Mark Ronson "came out" as sapiosexual.  There's no relation between this news and "Valerie," I just thought I'd report it.  Liam Payne debuts at #39 with just 48 hours after Josh, Celina, and Emily all give it curiousity spins.  Is it good enough to go higher?  We'll have to see next week.

After 20 weeks on the chart, former #1 "If I Can't Have You" just barely stays onto the chart at #40.  This song just will not die, no matter how many times people comment wondering how it's still on the Braintree Top 40.  Also, just last week chart member Tanya was asking why only a few people seem to be impacting the chart every week.  Well, was this week enough people for you?  We had major impacts from nearly everyone involved.

This week's #FlashbackFriday goes to Aly & AJ, who topped the charts with their comeback single, "Take Me," two years ago.  While it only reigned for two non-consecutive weeks, it is definitely one of the defining songs of that era of the Braintree Top 40.

Next week, we see new releases from Tiesto & Mabel, Lauv, Hailee Steinfeld, and a big release from Maroon 5 as well as the release of the new Tove Lo album.  We also have full impact of the new Liam Payne song.  Can it match the success of his debut single, "Strip That Down"?  Can "Circles" stay atop the #1 yet again or will Breagh's tears for "Lover" be enough to bring it back to the top spot?  FInd out next week on the Braintree Top 40!
