ATTACK OF BREAGH LIPA – After Ariana Grande briefly overtook the top spot with “No Tears Left to Cry” last week, “One Kiss” has returned for a 3rd week at #1, thanks to Dua Lipa’s biggest fan, Breagh. Not only that, but Breagh helps “IDGAF” and “New Rules” return to the top 5 yet again. At this rate, “New Rules” will become Braintree’s national anthem. Hayley Kiyoko achieves the 2nd top 5 of her career as “What I Need” featuring Kehlani jumps to #5. Kiyoko previously hit #3 with “Curious” earlier this year.
We see two familiar faces get their 2nd top ten this week as Anne-Marie soars to #7 with “2002” and Janelle Monae flies to #8 with “Pynk” featuring Grimes. Both received critical acclaim with their new albums released this week, so be sure to check those out.
Emm!e had a quiet week, only giving “The Middle” a boost back up to #11 as well as getting The Vamps & MATOMA to finally debut after weeks of just missing with “All Night”. Daina enjoyed a bit of influence this week, finally listening to the two new Nicki Minaj singles. Did she like them though? That remains to be seen. She also gave Why Don’t We’s highest peak yet with “Trust Fund Baby”. Celina kept George Ezra in the top ten while also reviving The Greatest Showman as “The Greatest Show” re-enters at #35. Emily held tight to the Braintree Top 40 and gave most of the songs a nice little boost. They all thank you, Emily! She also keeps Avicii on the chart with “Lonely Together” at #23. Aside from Dua Lipa, Breagh didn’t add anything else to the chart. I’m sure she’s fine with that though.
We see a few new debuts at the bottom end of the chart as Charlie Puth, Vianney, Janelle Monae, and Troye Sivan all add to their Braintree Top 40 chart totals with “That Way That I Am’, “La meme” (with Maitre Gims), “Americans”, and “Bloom” coming in at #28, 38, 39, and 40, respectively.
Next week, we’ll see all those new debuts move up even more as well as see some new songs hit the chart. We’ve got new releases from Florence + the Machine, Bastille, Christina Aguilera, Jess Glynne, Shawn Mendes and Julia Michaels. Could any of those be the one the dethrone “One Kiss” from the top spot? Find out next week!
