Charlie's Hot 75 - March 17, 2016

Chart Highlights

Tame Impala's "The Less I Know the Better" bounds 15-1, making the second largest jump to No. 1 in chart history. Adele's "Hello" (6-6 this week) previously flew 22-1 on it's way to a six week reign, and still holds the record. "The Less I Know the Better" is the first chart topper for Tame Impala; the group's single "Let It Happen" makes similar gains this week (68-52).

Consequently, Rihanna's comeback streaming mammoth "Work" with Drake falls from the penthouse after a single week (1-2). Although "Work" is under performing against past lead singes from Rihanna (notably "Diamonds" and the scrapped "FourFiveSeconds"), it still posts solid gains in play and notches a sixth straight week in the top 5. It notably debuted at No. 6 in the first week of February. As a consoliation prize for Rihanna: ANTI marks a sixth week in the top 5 over on the album chart (though down 3-5). "Kiss It Better" also makes a surprising rise to a new peak (51-49), as the hype from the ANTI release has generally worn off.

After topping the list for two weeks, AlunaGeorge's "I'm In Controls" continues to stabilize (3-3). Meanwhile Coldplay's blockbuster "Adventure of a Lifetime" makes a surprising exit from the top 3 (2-4), dropping after 16 consecutive frames in the region (a record 15 of which were spent in the runner up position). Despite never making it to No. 1, "Adventure" walks away with the 'lifetime' record for most weeks at No. 2 and should wrap up with a strong point total by the time it exits. It marks an 18th week in the top 5 overall.

Miguel's "Leaves" slides 4-5, one week after extending its record for longest climb to a peak position (35 weeks). Unfortunately for Miguel, The Weeknd's "Often" looks to outstrip his newfound record: it holds 14-14 with a bullet in its 36th week.

Twenty One Pilots' "Stressed Out" (13-9) and Tove Lo's "Moments" (11-10) join the top 10, rounding out the bracket alongside falling veterans from The Weeknd (5-7) and The Chainsmokers (7-8).

Lower on the chart, rising british singer and songwriter Nao makes the biggest splash with two new debuts. New single "Fool to Love" enters as the top debut at No. 55 while her 2015 single "Bad Blood" finally starts at No. 75. In between them, Katy B's "I Wanna Be" makes a modest start at No. 68 (previous single "Calm Down" debuted at peaked at No. 10 in 2015).
