Chart 19.5.23

Eurovision week! And this year it has the biggest impact its ever had! Despite a dissapointing result, Mae Muller vaults a massive 40 spots up the chart to #1 with 'I Wrote A Song', becoming both her first #1 and the first Eurovision #1! It also takes the record for biggest jump to #1 this year! Last weeks #1 previously had that record (tied with Lizzy McAlpine's 'Ceilings') when it jumped 37 spots to the top! It drops to #2 this week. Loreen re-enters at #3 with 'Tattoo' following her incredible 2nd time win. Taylor is at #4 with 'The Moment I Knew'. A further 2 Eurovision songs debut in the top 10; the robbed 'Who The Hell Is Edgar?' by TEYA & SALENA at #5 and the bop 'Solo' by BLANKA at #8. RAYE & Coi Leray, Mimi Webb, Dermot Kennedy & Rita Ora fill in the top 10.

Further down there are further Eurovision entries with Allessandra's 'Queen Of Kings' at #22, Vesna's 'My Sisters Crown' at #25, Noa Kirel's 'Unicorn' at #27, La Zara's 'Evedimment' at #32, Dilja's 'Power' at #37 (so so so robbed of the final, what a bop!), and Mimicats' Ai Coracao' at #40.

There are other new entries from Becky Hill. Her welcome return 'Side Effects' debuts at #11. Caity Baser gets another top 20 hit following her #1 Pretty Boys. This time its 'Dance Around It' with Joel Corry at #17. The iconic 'Maria Maria' has had a tiktok resurgance and so gives Santana and The Product G&B a big new one at #27. Ed Sheeran has two tracks from '-' enter. 'Curtains' and 'Salt Water' at #42 & #44 respectively. FIFTY FIFTY's massive 'CUPID' is a new one at #46 (expect a climb) and Sam Ryder's 'Mountain' is also in at #50. There are also 3 entries from Taylor Swift this week; 'illicit affairs' back in at a new high of #39, 'my tears ricochet' at #47 and the brush-off Lover opener 'I Forgot That You Existed' at #48, bringing her top 50 entry count to 96!! And with Speak Now (TV) imminent, she'll easily cross that 100 chart entries threshold!

Next week expect plenty of new ones from Lewis Capaldi as he unveils his 2nd studio album, already led by 2 top 3 singles!

Hi Conor!
Although I wasn't a fan of "I Wrote A Song" early, at least during Eurovision week, it grew on me. Also, it was so lovely seeing the other Eurovision contestants getting into a conga line in the green room to this song (saw the video on Eurovision's account on TikTok)!
I also like the other Eurovision songs debut, definitely will be a takeover on my chart too and nice debuts for "Side Effects", "Maria Maria", "Curtains", "Cupid" and "Mountain".

Eurovision was great this year, the entries were so good it was difficult to position them in my chart. Unfortunately, 'I Wrote A Song" was not as streamed as much as some of the others, but glad it is #1 here. I do wonder where 'Cha Cha Cha' is though... hmm? hehe.
