Chart 2.12.22

The first chart of December is a busy one! Taylor clings on to the #1 with 'Karma' but is chased by RAYE at #2. 'Escapism' (which features 070 Shake) first debuted and peaked at #13 in October and dropped week by week. Following it's recent TikTok virality, it re-entered last week at #48 and after revisiting it this past week it climbs an incredible 46 spots to #2! It now holds the record for biggest climb up the chart! To put its dramatic rise into context; on Sunday it was tracking for #16, Monday #7 and now #2! Anti-Hero stays put at #3. Following the Deluxe edition of her chart-topping album 'Love Sux', Avril Lavigne claims 4 songs in this week's chart. The highest of those is 'Mercury In Retrograde' new at #4. 'Lavender Haze' is at #5.

As well as 'Mercury in Retrograde', one other deluxe track 'Pity Party' enters at #15, while Avril's 2 former #1's 'Love Sux' and 'Bite Me' re-enter ar #36 and #50 respectively. Christmas begins to take a proper hold this week too. Taylor's 'Christmas Tree Farm' rises to #13, Wham! re-enter at #16 with 'Last Christmas', Mariah is at #19, Ariana's 'Santa Tell Me' is back in at #31 and The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl are in at #35 with their classic 'Fairytale Of New York'. Kate Bush also re-enters with her former #1 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)' at #27 after a tiktok trend using it!

This week, there are also new entries from Dessy. Snippet of the Ariana Grande-esque 'Ladies in my crib' went viral a few weeks ago and I have been anticipating it. Now that its finally here, it enters at #21. JVKE & Cat Burns also enter ar #47 with the remix of his track 'Golden Hour' while Lola Young's 'Stream Of Conciousness' is new at #49!

Hey there Conor! Escapism really is exploding everywhere at the moment isn't it. I prefered The Thrill Is Gone from the duo but Black Mascara massively surpasses both regardless, awesome for RAYE though! Nice to see Love Sux and Bite Me back following Love Sux (Deluxe) and a RUTH return is always welcome too. More and more Christmas now, love that Fairytale Of New York makes the return this week but love Last Christmas too! Nice chart!

Yeah Escapism. really is doing well isn't it! So happy for RAYE! Personally, The Thrill Is Gone. is the weakest single from this era so far but Black Mascara is one of her best ever! Love Sux and Bite Me may drop out as XMAS rush starts, but they'll be back for the album's 1 year anniversary in march! And RUTH should stay, and even if it does drop out it'll be back after christmas with the end of year effect!

You are still not giving Anti-Hero that #1 position! :-'( Not much hope if your Christmas songs continue to climb.

Regardless of that, it is nice to see Midnights maintain some of the top positions of the chart.

Sad to see Dermot decline so quickly, the songs don't seem to have much longevity for me either, apart from a couple.

Yeah its stable but not doing enough for #1 yet! It could sneak a moment but i think its best chance is in the new year! Midnights will definitely continue to dominate!

Yeah a main reason for Dermot's decline is due to how underwhelming Sonder was when compared to Without Fear. I'll properly re-listen in full in the new year so maybe some songs will click and chart for a while!
