Chart 30.12.22

The Final chart of 2022 is a busy one. Christmas continues its domination claiming a huge 26 spots, different to the 3 christmas songs in last years final chart. To be fair, I had covid over christmas last year which explains. Next week though that means there are at least 25 spots to fill in the chart which will make for some interesting returns! This week though, Ava Max rounds off the year with her first chart topper. 'Dancing's Done' is the 4th single from her upcoming album 'Diamonds & Dancefloors' debuted at #22 last week after just 24 hours, and this week it vaults up to the top. It gives Ava a 4/4 streak as now all 4 singles from the album have made my top 3! Last weeks #1 'So Much Wine' slips to #2, Taylor's 'right where you left me' is at #3 and Wham! stay at #4 with 'Last Christmas'. The Top 5 is rounded off with The Pogues.

Elsewhere, Lana gets a 2nd Top 10 as 'Young & Beautiful' climbs to #6. It makes as part of a Lana Del Rey reneissance, especially with her constant virality on tiktok. The 2013 track leads ahead of 4 other Lana songs in the top 50. Her latest 'did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd' and 'Doin' Time' both drop, while 2 more of Lana's older songs enter. 'Summertime Sadness' at #45 and 'Cola' at #50. If this was a year ago, they'd all (except' tunnel...') be excluded, but since summer this year I removed the blanket rule excluding older songs from the chart no matter the circumstances to allow Kate Bush's success to be appreciated properly, so don't be surprised if random songs, like Summertime Sadness and Cola do end up charting!

There is also a re-entry for 'I Knew You Were Trouble (Taylor's Version)' at #14 because i stumbled a podcast of a live version that has had me in a chokehold this past week. I've put the spotify link here :). There are 6 christmas songs entering this week as well.

Hey Conor I love seeing Dancing's Done at the top here it's the only single from her upcoming album I love so far, hope that changes in time and/or the album tracks impress me because her first era was really great! I Knew You Were Trouble is a pretty iconic Taylor track glad to see it back. Of the other debuts/returns, 2000 Miles, One More Sleep, Summertime Sadness, Merry Christmas and Cola are my favourites. Nice chart, I'll go check out your End Of Year now :)
