Songs Of The Summer 2022

Tate McRae takes the crown for song of the summer with single 'what would you do?'. It debuted at #1 in late May and spent 14 consecutive weeks in the top 5! Maisie Peters follows closely behind with 'Cate's Brother', also a #1 debut in May that has tied with Tate for the most consecutive top 5 weeks! Kate Bush's 80s classic 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)' had a huge revival this summer after its use in Stranger Things, it clocks in as the 3rd biggest song of the summer and is currently the longest running song of 2022 on the chart, spending 4 weeks at the summit! Tate McRae broke records with her album 'i used to think i could fly' in which every song charted within the top 15. In the albums release week, she even occupied the entire top 3! And on that week, album track 'you're so cool' made #1 giving Tate her 3rd #1 song! It clocks in at #4. Tate holds further spots in the top 10 as 'boy x' is at #6 and currently the biggest song of the year 'she's all i wanna be' is at #7! Rosa Linn's slow burning Eurovision-turned-TikTok hit is the 5th biggest song of the summer! And the top 10 is finished with 3 #1s, #8 is the dance collab between David Guetta, Becky Hill and Ella Henderson, #9 is Sabrina Carpenter's 'Vicious' and Baby Queen's 'Nobody Really Cares' is at #10!

Tate McRae holds the most spots in the top 40 songs of the summer chart, holding 6 spots there, and other artists with multiple entries include Mabel who dropped her 2nd album About Last Night... in July, and Sabrina Carpenter who's 5th studio album 'emails i can't send' also released over the summer!

And with only 3 months left till the end of 2022, I will begin posting contenders for the song of the year soon!
