Chart

30th October, 2020 - 5th November, 2020

My Favourite Songs, Albums and Artists of All Time: https://crownnote.com/charts/gameskiller01/my-favourite-songs-of-all-time

Top albums of the week:

1) Ariana Grande - 'Positions' (Debut)   [100%]
2) Pop Smoke - 'Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon' (-1)   [71%]
3) Sam Smith - 'Love Goes' (Debut)   [66%]
4) blackbear - 'everything means nothing' (-2)   [53%]
5) The Weeknd - 'After Hours' (-2)   [39%]

Notable events:

  • After 2 months at the top of the albums chart, 'Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon' finally gets dethroned
  • To the surprise of absolutely no-one, it's replaced by Ariana Grande's new LP 'Positions' with a #1 debut, her 2nd #1 album
  • Sam Smith also makes a big debut at #3 with 'Love Goes', their 1st entry on the albums chart
  • Over on the singles chart, Ariana remains at #1 with 'positions' for a 2nd consecutive week, scoring the chart double
  • It's the 2nd time this year (and in chart history) where the #1 single and album have the same title, following The Weeknd's 'After Hours'
  • Ariana sees 3 debuts in the Top 10, bringing her total up to 22 Top 10s
  • Ty Dolla $ign also increases his total to 6 Top 10s, while The Weeknd increases his total to 22, matching Ariana
  • Ariana's 13 debuts this week brings her up to a total of 43 chart entries
  • Sam Smith also makes a smaller impact, with 'My Oasis' climbing 5 to become their 3rd Top 10, and Burna Boy's 5th
  • With 3 debuts, Sam Smith increases their total to 9 chart entries
  • At #10, The Weeknd's 'After Hours' is just the 3rd song to chart at every position in the Top 10, after 'Bloodstream' and 'God is a woman'
  • Climbing 3 places to #19, 'God is a woman' reaches its highest position since March 2020, when it spent the month between #13 & #16
  • This week sees the 2nd highest amount of simultanoues debuts in chart history with 19, mostly thanks to Ariana and 'Positions'
  • The only week with more managed 20 simultaneous debuts in February 2019, again mostly because of Ariana with 'thank u, next'

hi gameskiller! great to be back on here. :)
i’m sorry to tell you this mate, but i really hate your number 1 and i found ariana’s album to be meh sadly. that said, motive at number 26 was decent!
as for the rest of your chart, i like diamonds bouncing into the top 5 and my oasis in the top 10, as well as the new entry for paradise.
good chart like usual. :)

Hey CoolOcelot! It's great to see you back on here! :D It's a shame that you weren't a fan of 'Positions' though; while it wasn't quite as good as I hoped it would be, and it definitely wasn't as good as 'thank u, next', I still really like the album, which should be pretty clear from this chart haha! 'positions' is pretty likely to be keeping the top spot in my next chart, but I think it'll struggle to get any more than that with 'No Love for the Lonely' almost certain to take #1. It's good to hear that you like 'Diamonds' climbing, though, since that's been doing really well for me recently, and should be sticking in the Top 10 for a good while! 'My Oasis' will likely fall in the next chart now that the 'Love Goes' boost has mostly worn off, but 'Paradise' should definitely be climbing. Thanks for the comment! :D

So much Ariana this week, but I'm not surprised about that, haha.
I'm happy that 'Fever' & especially 'Paradise' managed to debut despite a huge album bomb for 'Positions'!
Good chart as usual.

Hey Piran! Yeah haha, it's Ariana so it was pretty much guaranteed to make a huge impact. 'Positions' is definitely no 'thank u, next', but I do still really like the album, so I imagine it'll still be having a big impact in the weeks to come! I think it might end up similar to 'After Hours', with some tracks climbing and doing really well while the rest of the album drops out (though it definitely won't be on the same scale as 'After Hours). As for 'Fever' and 'Paradise', the former will probably be dropping out in my next chart, unfortunately, but the latter will definitely be making a climb! Thanks for the comment! :D
