James' Top 40 - August 19, 2015

#1 debut!

Notes:

  • The first #1 debut on the chart since "What Are You Waiting For?" from last September occurs this week. SafetySuit, my favorite band (not Nickelback as some of you may think lol), surprise released an old b-side to their previous album, These Times, last Tuesday. "Heart Attack" could have debuted last week, but I held it off to give it a full week. This will be on their upcoming album, whenever they decide to release it, so they already have two #1s with it ("On Your Side" went #1 last year). These guys are one of the few bands that could just get Top 3 debuts on the dime with each song, so they have a lot of power. This should hold down the top spot for the time being, but it could drop after a few weeks. This ends "End of the World"'s short 3 week reign (it looked like it could go 8 at first). They would have lost it this week anyways to "A Taste of Silver" (#2), which would have extended its #1 week total to 11.
  • "Feel It" hops into the Top 10 this week, going 14-10 for a new peak. This should be an easy Top 5 hit for Toby, and a potential #1. This should also turn into Toby's top hit on my chart, after "Tonight" hit #8 back in the day. tobyMac also scores another debut this week for "Til the Day I Die" at #37. That one could do minor damage, but it won't have the biggest life, probably until if it gets released as a single.
  • "Nepal" takes another high climb, going 18-12 for a new peak. This should easily enter the Top 10 next week. USS also scores a debut with "Yin Yang" at #38. Since this is the single for the US, this should get a lot of attention, as "Nepal" also will.
  • Fetty Wap scores his first Top 20 with "My Way" going 21-19. This has been getting little gains up, and should continue to do so. Drake is looking at two possible debuts next week, as both "Back to Back" and "Hotline Bling" are the top two tracks on On the Rise.
  • This week marks the first time since last August (almost a full year) that there will be no Nickelback songs on the chart, as both "Satellite" and "Get 'Em Up" fall off the chart this week. There will probably not be another Nickelback song on the chart until their next album, so in a few years.
