New #1!
5 debuts!
Notes:
- We have a new #1, and a surprising one at that, as Run River North score their first #1 on the chart with "29", as it rises 5-1. Since rocketing into the Top 10 a few weeks ago, this has been on heavy rotation and carried itself to the top in a fast manner. I'm not sure how long this will stay #1, but it has the potential to last for a little while.
- "Confused" re-enters the Top 10 this week by going 12-10, matching its previous peak. This honestly pushed into the Top 10 because there was nothing else to push. Right now, 10-20 are all bulletless with the exception of two songs ("Bonfire" and "Half Broke Heart"), so we have a true dead zone here. This should solve itself soon.
- "Old School" takes a 42-24 jump, an 18 position move, into the Top 30. This is one of three songs with a 10+ position movement upwards, and this is the highest one. I expect this in the Top 10 in two weeks, as it is on the fast track to the top. I see this one peaking in the Top 3 at the very least, but #1 is totally possible.
- Our top debut this week goes to Nickelback with "Feed the Machine" at #30. I teased last week that it could potentially debut at #1, so this is a pretty underwhelming debut. This is the first Nickelback lead single that didn't debut at #1 since the inception of the chart. This isn't a knock on its quality, because this might be my favorite single from them in a long time, it just got mixed in the shuffle of a bunch of new music. I suspect this well go #1 in the future, but this one might actually take its time. I'm probably not going to fast track it. This one has the potential to have a long shelf life.
- As Thrice appears in the Top 10 with "Black Honey" (7-6), they also have another song zooming up the charts with "Stay with Me", which blasts up 14 positions by going 49-35 for a new peak. This one should be Top 10 in no time, as Thrice will likely have two concurrent Top 10 in a few weeks. I see this one potentially being a #1 hit, which isn't very common for a non-chart staple to do. Thrice also has "Blood on the Sand" on On the Rise, which could potentially debut soon.
- Cold War Kids make their chart return this week with their new single "Love Is Mystical" debuting at #45. I see this doing very well as Cold War Kids did last era. They currently have a 4 song Top 5 streak to start their career off, so this will look to extend that.
- Mondo Cozmo takes a big hike with "Shine" this week as it jumps 15 positions, 61-46, for a new peak. This has been on heavy rotation the past few weeks and this looks like a future Top 10 hit. There's a part of me feeling like this could burn, but I'll enjoy it for now.
- Imagine Dragons return to the chart as well this week with "Believer" coming in at #59. They haven't had too much success since Night Visions, but they've been around the chart since. Their last entry was "Levitate" which peaked at #66 and only stuck around for two weeks. I can see this one doing decent, but nothing too extravagant.
- William Singe makes his chart debut this week with "Rush" at #63. He's been on my radar for about a year now, and he finally released his debut single last week. I see this doing very well on the chart, potentially a Top 10 hit in the future. This should be a slower rise though.
- The final debut this week goes to The Revivalists with "Wish I Knew You" at #70. This debuted more because there were three recurrents this week, so I gave it the satisfaction. I don't see this doing much, probably a peak in the 50s (or lower since the de-extension might be happening soon).
- Some songs are starting to bleed out now, and that's because I'm going to start making the transition over to a 50 position chart. I'm going to let songs drop hard if I feel they need to so it can make an easier transition. This week we actually see "Never Stop" (45-48) fall into serious danger of leaving the chart 5 years into its run (lmao). I plan on doing the de-extension a week or two after it goes recurrent, which should be soon. When it does go recurrent, I'll announce more information. Also, there will be a giant memorial service for it like nothing else.
