Chart

the cm70 - January 13, 2016

Notes:

  • "Looking Up" secures its fourth week on top of the chart this week. Things are still tight between this and "Seeing Red" (#2), as next week should be a battle between the two, though an outsider could push them away.
  • "Criminals" climbs into the Top 3, going 6-3 for a new peak. Its chart run has been outstanding, as 19 weeks to enter the Top 3 is very good. It has had a pretty lengthy stay on the chart and could push far up in week counts. This has the potential to stick around in the Top 10 for awhile. It was first predicted to peak in the mid-20s and it obliterated that prediction. #1 doesn't look totally likely for this in its run, but it does have a little shot at it next week.
  • Papa Roach keeps flying with "Falling Apart", as it now moves 19-9 this week for a new peak. This has a shot at #1 next week, but it should definitely have the top spot in a few weeks. This has been hot since its debut, and the fact that it still is running high means big things for it. This has a shot at being a long-running #1.
  • "Cake By The Ocean" keeps enjoying its resurgence, as it goes 17-13 this week. After hitting its peak at #9 in the beginning of December, it fell each week after until last week's chart. Something re-sparked the song for me, and it looks like it can beat its #9 peak after all. If it does, it would be a huge turnaround for the song.
  • Bryson Tiller enters the Top 20 and Top 60 with "Don't" (21-20) and "Exchange" (66-60) respectively. "Don't" is starting to get up there and should continue to do so. It has the potential to go Top 10, but it might fall right below it.
  • Andrew Ripp enters the Top 30 and Top 50 with "Surviving" (32-27) and "Lies" (51-49) respectively. "Surviving" is playing as the single right now, while "Lies", "Hole In My Heart" (#67), and "I Can't Help Myself" (On the Rise; should enter eventually) are holding as album tracks. Andrew could be having a very successful 2016 in his hands. "Surviving" is looking like it could be a slow climber into the Top 10 and "Lies" should climb slowly to its peak as well. "Hole In My Heart" might fall off sooner or later, but its time will come to shine after those two. Also, whenever "I Can't Help Myself" debuts, that should do well. Those four will likely serve as the pretend singles off of the album since Andrew doesn't release radio singles.
  • "High Dive" finally enters the Top 30, going 31-30 for a new peak. After flying up the charts, it hit a wall at the #31 spot, where it spent a few weeks at. Even though it moved just one, it was a good mark. This has definitely fallen down, but there is still a lot of time for this to pick back up. This one should take awhile to peak.
  • Charles Kelley has himself a good week, as "The Driver" moves 42-37 this week for a new peak. Charles could be seeing another good week next week, as "The Driver" should continue to climb and "Lonely Girl" should debut. His album is slated to release in the beginning of February, so he can be looking at a great next four weeks coming up here.
  • "Talking Body" (37-41) hits the one year mark on the chart this week. It drops out of the Top 40 this week, but it still counts! This probably won't make it too much further past the 52 week mark. This has about a few weeks left in the tank before it should be sent off to recurrency. Despite having a low #7 peak, this turned out to be a great follow-up to her 13 week #1 in "Habits", which also hit a full year on the chart. We will have another song with a full year on the chart in a few weeks with "First"!
  • "Another Lonely Night" climbs into the Top 50, going 51-50 for a new peak. This has a shot at nailing the Top 40, but likely not for awhile. This might have the shot at being a long-runner, but not all is known right now.
  • "1998" (61-57), "Style" (62-58), and "Out of the Woods" (64-59) all enter the Top 60 this week. The former two might hit their peak soon, but "Out of the Woods" is just getting started.
  • AWOLNATION re-enters the chart this week with "Woman Woman" at #62. This peaked at #39 back when Run was released. "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" hit #10 on the chart, while "I Am" failed to enter the chart. This could be a huge hit, but it does have a lot of ground to cover.
  • "Stressed Out" and "Wildfire" debut at #69 and #70 this week respectively. "Stressed Out" has been chilling in On the Rise for awhile, dating back to the summer, so it probably won't peak all that high. "Ride" is on Re-Entry Watch this week, so that'll likely steal all of the attention. For now, "Stressed Out" will look to get in a few weeks. "Wildfire" isn't looking like a huge chart hit, but it should peak maybe in the mid-50s?
