7 new entries!
Notes:
- "Falling Apart" doesn't move up for its first week on the chart, but that's only because it sticks at #1. This is sprinting away from everyone else and could be looking at a lengthy stay at the top. It didn't have as huge of a week as it has had its whole run, but it still had a nice, positive week.
- "In Chains" re-enters the Top 20 again, as it goes 21-20 to meet its previous peak. This has definitely been stuck behind the rest of the competition. It was looking like an easy Top 10, but it keeps getting past up. It has been doing well its whole run and has had positive updates, just not as positive as the songs jumping above it. This should definitely surpass its peak by the next few weeks, but it won't be able to peak for as well as it has done.
- Carrie Underwood gets her first big week with "Heartbeat" since its debut, moving 37-29 for a new peak. After a big debut, it was looking to perform like "Falling Apart", but it fell back down to earth in its second week and had been putting up decent updates up until this week's roar. It was among the top performers of the week and it really reignited itself. This still has the makings of a Top 10 hit, but it will take its time to get there. She's performing this with Sam Hunt at the Grammys in a few weeks, and if there is a new version out or even just the performance in general will cause this to explode. If there does end up being a duet between the two released, they'll be combined ala Until the Ribbon Breaks' "Pressure".
- As expected, BANNERS has himself a huge week yet again. "Shine A Light" moves 39-34 to finally best its peak set back in September. Its projections are starting to rise at a fast rate and is looking like a Top 20 hit. It'll obviously fall back down the earth next week or so, but it should continue to climb from here on out. "Start A Riot" blasts 59-52 for a new peak. This should be able to hold its own on the chart. It'll likely be the second single from the EP whenever they pull the plug on "Shine A Light", which is struggling on Alt right now, so when that happens, this'll blow up.
- BANNERS also puts up the rest of his EP on the chart. "Gold Dust" debuts at #61, "Back When We Had Nothing" at #68, and "Ghosts" at #70. The latter two will likely be one-weekers, and depending on next week's performances, "Gold Dust" has the opportunity to be a two-weeker.
- "Way Down We Go" takes a huge hike this week, as it goes 53-45 for a new peak. It had a really solid week this week, and it actually grew on me even more. This looks to be finally coming into its own after the beginning of its run starting off slowly.
- Bryson Tiller continues to kill it on the chart. As "Don't" (16-13) approaches the Top 10, he has "Exchange" enter the Top 50 by going 54-50 for a new peak, and he also scores a re-entry this week with "Been That Way" at #67. "Been That Way" was actually going to be promoted as the single on my chart, as I liked it more than "Don't" originally, but it fell off the chart after two weeks and peaking at #37 due to tough competition. Well obviously "Don't" grew on me, but I was really surprised at how "Been That Way" has nearly 15 plays more than "Don't", even with how well the latter is doing, so I decided it was time for a re-entry. All three are definitely going to chart together, and Bryson could see himself being a huge player in 2016.
- Russell Dickerson pulls in the top debut at #53 with "Yours". I've been obsessing with the song since I've heard it, and I already know it'll do some big damage. This should be able to climb high for the next few weeks. A Top 10 peak is totally not out of the picture.
- Charles Kelley debuts another this week as "Dancing Around It" debuts at #56. This one is actually a surprise debut as I had no idea it was going to be released before the album, but this now gives Charles three songs on the chart. This was actually my favorite of all the previews for the album, so this one might be able to perform the best, even with "The Driver" (27-23) being far ahead of it. If this gets to be a single, it could be an endgame. If anyone reads these and has heard the song, I can't be the only one that is totally obsessed with the little guitar riff on this that pops in and out throughout the song. It's literally orgasmic.
- "Stressed Out" takes a huge jump this week, going 65-57 for a new peak. This more debuted just for the sake of charting it since I wanted to, but never had the chance to till now, but this is definitely making the best of its opportunity. "Ride" also moves big by going 67-59. That one will easily peak above "Stressed Out" (I mean, it already has), and should be a huge hit on the chart.
- "Love Yourself" takes a nice jump by going 69-60 for a new peak. Justin is really going to try to push for three Top 10s off ofPurpose, but he could fall short in the end.
- The Chainsmokers make their chart debut this week with "Roses" at #63. I've known this song for awhile, but I never really connected the dots on who it was. I always thought it was "Hide Away" by: Daya until I Shazamed it and was proven wrong. This could be a big hit on the chart if it can do as well as it did this week next week. I actually really adore ROZES' vocals, so I might check out some of her other music, so you could see her on the chart again soon!
- Due to the constant new entries, some songs are falling off and taking big hits. The chart is super competitive right now, so good weeks are crucial. "Fine By Me" (55-66) should be able to turn it around, even if it requires a second run on the chart. "idfc" (52-62) and "Reapers" (51-65) are probably done, while "Out of the Woods" (62-69) really needs a positive week if it wants to stay alive. The song has actually sort of burned on me already, but it does have a bit of life back in it to get back into the running. "Wash It All Away" and "Pink Cocaine" both fell off this week, but the latter should be able to re-enter next week, while the former might not be able to. Next week has some certain dropoffs with only a few certain entries, so that could open the door for some tracks.
