Queen Cam absolutely dominates; 7 debuts this week plus a record-breaking climb and a Top 10 hit, all coming from her!
New #1!
Notes:
- Charles Kelley drives into the #1 spot this week with "The Driver" moving up 3-1! It's been a long time coming for the song, but it is definitely well deserved. This is definitely where it should have gotten on radio, but country radio decided to peak it in the early 40s. And also, this is a surprising statistic: this is the first country song to go #1 on my chart! And the funny thing is, five country songs on the chart are looking to go #1 as well. This has a shot at a second week, but there's someone coming fast...
- Cam has herself an enormous week this week. So big in fact, that I'm actually going to put it into 4 bullet points! First, Cam nets herself her first Top 10 on the chart as "Burning House" burns up the chart 21-8 this week for a new peak. This week's large Cam numbers are put up due in part to that I've literally only been listening to her album Untamed practically since Saturday. I'm obsessed. It's so good. "Burning House" actually has a good shot at #1 next week, but it will easily make it to the Top 3 next week.
- After some good news comes sad news: "A Taste of Silver" drops from the Top 10 for the first time since January 15, 2015, its second week on the chart! It takes a short fall at 10-11, but this doesn't mean the end for it. It probably will start to get passed up by a few songs flying up the chart, but this should easily stay on the chart for a much longer time. When it does eventually go recurrent, it should probably be due to falling below #50, and not the 3 consecutive weeks of falling down 5 positions.
- Back to Cam! "Mayday" puts up the largest positional climb in chart history, as it bombards its way up the chart by going 50-22 (28 positions), obviously for a new peak. It also put up 40 plays this week, another large number for the track. I just kept replaying and replaying it this week, and God am I in love. This will undoubtedly be a #1, and it should position itself in the Top 10 next week, potentially Top 5. This might ruin "Pink Cocaine" (20-12) and "Dancing Around It" (18-14)'s chances of #1. This could be a long-running #1 as well.
- "Ocean Drive" enters the Top 30 this week as it climbs 32-30 for a new peak. This one is starting to slow down a bit, and it probably will only hit the Top 20 eventually. It's sadly done on radio, but it will live on here!
- Chris Lane keeps climbing as "Fix" takes another nice jump this week, as it goes 44-36 for a new peak. This is looks like a big hit for Chris and is eyeing the #1 spot in its future. It'll likely slow down soon though, so that might affect its chances.
- "Woman Woman" finally re-peaks, as it climbs 40-37 this week, surpassing its #39 peak it set last year when it debuted with their album Run being released. This should continue to climb nicely, but I'm not sure how long it'll last.
- tobyMac enters two songs into the Top 50, as "Move (Keep Walkin')" and "Backseat Driver" move up 53-48 and 52-50 respectively. Both songs should continue their nice paces, and they will both probably peak around the same area. Neither will likely make the Top 10 like fellow album tracks "Feel It" (#8) and "Til the Day I Die" (8-7), but they could hit the Top 30 in time.
- And now we end on Cam! Cam debuts two songs that have a shot at sticking for awhile in "Cold In California" and "My Mistake" debuting at #54 and #57 respectively. Both songs should end up playing out as decent album tracks, and potentially soar to bigger heights as I think both tracks could be future singles after "Mayday". "My Mistake" was actually her debut single, but it didn't do much before "Burning House" took off, but I could totally see a re-release working in its favor.
- While Cam debuts two nice album tracks, she also almost debuts the rest of her album. "Half Broke Heart", "Want It All", "Hungover on Heartache", "Runaway Train", and "Untamed" all debut at #63, #66, #67, #69, and #70 respectively, leaving just "Country Ain't Never Been Pretty" and "Village" off the chart, though both appear on On the Rise. If she can debut both of those next week, she'll be the first artist to ever debut a full album on the chart. All of her debuts this week will probably stick next week, so next week could be Cam time yet again!
