Chart

the cm70 - May 5, 2016

Notes:

  • "Mayday" holds its fifth week atop the chart this week. Things are looking good for the song right now, but there are some chargers that will try to take it out. "Looking Up" (3-2) is starting to fuel back up, as now there is a new version of the song out (admittedly, its worse, so that's not helping it), but it has been regaining quite a bit the past few weeks. It does have a shot at retaking #1, but it might fall short. Cam also has to look out for a potential #1 debut in two weeks with OneRepublic releasing their lead single to their next album "Wherever I Go" on May 13th. They should at the very least get a Top 5 debut, with a good shot at Top 3. "Mayday" should hold the top spot next week, but in two weeks time it should be interesting.
  • Run River North flow into the Top 5 with "Run or Hide" going 6-5 for a new peak. Cam and Run River North currently hold the top two spots on the Album of the Year vote, but Cam has the upperhand. This had the potential to go #1 before "Mayday"'s explosion, but now it is uncertain. This does have some looks of longevity to it, so maybe it could see the top if it can hold up.
  • Raphael Lake & Aaron Levy gain their first Top 20 hit with "Time Out" moving 21-19 for a new peak. This has easily been one of the most random hits on my chart in history, but it's doing the job. This might have the gas to go Top 10, but it might falter pretty soon. There's some vulnerability above it, so a mid-teens peak is a good estimate for now.
  • "Ride" also moves into the Top 20 this week going 22-20 for a new peak. This has the looks of an eventual Top 10 hit, but it's starting to get a bit up there in age for me. This debuted almost a year ago now, so that might not work in its favor. Though, this could keep its pace going since it's just being a single now and more took a sort of backseat to "Stressed Out" (#57) as I tried to focus on that instead, even if it didn't have much success.
  • "Ain't No Man" and "Don't Let Me Down" keep up their huge paces, as they move 37-29 and 36-30 for new peaks respectively. Both are easily looking at the Top 10, and both are potentially looking at #1.
  • While Kaleo holds just shy of the Top 10 with "Way Down We Go" (14-11), "No Good" enters the Top 40, going 43-39 for a new peak. Kaleo might be looking at a huge couple of weeks soon until their album comes out on June 10th. These two saw some big action this week with the pre-order going up and my hype starting to increase. The album might be a big one on the awards for the year, so these both will benefit. "Way Down We Go" should enter the Top 10 next week, while "No Good" could follow suit in a month or so.
  • "Raging" enters the Top 50 this week, going 51-47 for a new peak. This is looking like the breakout hit for Kygo, who hasn't really done much for me before with his previous singles. After this does its time, "Fragile" should hold the torch. "Raging" is looking like a big hit in the making and should breakout sooner or later.
  • After Young The Giant debuted "Amerika" (65-63) last week, they follow that up with another, as now "Something to Believe In" debuts at #61. This one is looking like a huge hit out of the gate, and could potentially go Top 10. Obviously it has a long way to go, but I could see this having some big movements.
  • It could be a battle of Tove Lo features, as now Tove Lo debuts with Flume this week on "Say It", as that debuts at #64 this week. This has the potential to be a big hit for Flume, possibly breaking him out of one hit wonder status on the chart. You may remember him from 2014 when he charted "On Top", which peaked at #5. Even though "Never Be Like You" is the current single, this will probably take away from that. I actually heard it for the first time yesterday, and I liked it, so that could find its way onto the chart.
  • Acceptance debuts at #67 this week with "Desperate". This is actually a song that was released originally in 2009, but recently they put up an EP on NoiseTrade that featured this, which on the EP, it's a remix of the original demo. They charted last year with "Take You Away", which peaked at #32. This has a shot at matching that peak, with potential for more, or potential for less. Right now, it's a little uncertain.
