Lots to talk about this week but a quick note first - this is the final chart week eligible for my 2016 EOY! Yes I'm one of those people who does it a bit early, so any songs charting throughout the next month will be counted towards 2017, although there's normally very little around this point so the difference is minimal!
For the first time since Delta Goodrem in July, we have an artist who "does the double" and tops both the singles and albums charts. Little Mix have stayed for a second week atop the album chart with Glory Days, their first EVER #1 album, and have climbed a whopping 24 places with Touch to the top spot in what was a super close battle with Louisa Johnson, the rumoured second single from the album. It is their second #1 in my chart, following Secret Love Song earlier this year. Touch combines both the main album version and the acoustic version, which is included as a bonus track on the deluxe, and is just as good I think!
Up to a new peak of #3 after its #6 debut last week is Slumber Party, the new single by Britney Spears, now with added vocals from Tinashe. Its climb this week is helped by the fantastic music video, and in doing so, it gives Tinashe her highest peaking song to date - her previous best was #6 hit All Hands On Deck, featuring Iggy Azalea.
Also new to this week's top 5 is the highest new entry, courtesy of production duo Møtions and German singer Michael Schulte. Money on Me marks the first time Møtions have made my chart, although it is the fifth chart entry for Michael, who's previous had two #1s, including my former BJSC entry Jump Before We Fall. Interestingly, this is Michael's first top 10 hit that hasn't made #1 so far, with his next highest peak being the #19 hit You Said You'd Grow Old With Me!
Just missing out on this week's busy top 5 is Should've Been Me, the new single by Naughty Boy, Kyla and Popcaan. It is the debut hit for Kyla, and it's by far Naughty Boy's highest peaking song already, with his previous high being #27 for La La La. Surprisingly, Popcaan is now on his third top 10 hit, with his previous collaborations with Melissa Steel and AlunaGeorge both peaking at #5.
Also in this week's chart, George Shelley scores his debut top 10 hit with the first of six songs in his "#GSOriginals" project, entitled 360. The song instantly outpeaks all Union J songs bar one, the #5 hit You Got It All. They also achieved a top 10 with Tonight (We Live Forever) at #10, which is actually my favourite of theirs! George becomes the third boyband member gone solo to achieve a top 10 hit this year, after Zayn's #6 hit PILLOWTALK and Niall Horan's #5 hit This Town.
Jesper Jenset achieves his fourth chart hit with Lies at #13, although it becomes his first single to not debut in the top 10. Every other new entry this week also comes from an artist to have had at least one top 10 hit to their name, apart from Robin Schulz, who is part of Shed a Light alongside David Guetta and Cheat Codes, which can expected to climb higher next week when it's had a full 7 days to impact on me. Will it become Robin's first top 10?
