Joseph's Hit 40

Following the final of the Eurovision Song Contest last Saturday, a number of the songs performed make an impact on my chart this week. Most notably, Bulgarian representative Kristian Kostov enters at #1 with runner-up track Beautiful Mess. It's Kristian's first chart hit, and only the fourth Eurovision song to make #1, following Loreen's Euphoria in 2012, Eduard Romanyuta's I Want Your Love in 2014, and Frans' If I Were Sorry in 2016. We can add two further songs if we expand to national finals too - Ulrik Munther's Tell the World I'm Here topped the chart in 2013, and FO&O's Gotta Thing About You spent 2 weeks at #1 earlier this year, both from Sweden's Melodifestivalen.

Other Eurovision impacts are seen for older chart hits from Manel Navarro and Isaiah. Despite a ropey performance and a last place finish, Spain's Manel (pictured above with Kristian) is this week's highest climber, beginning a third stint in the top 10 since its #2 peak in January. Do It for Your Lover remains my favourite song overall from this year's contest, so last place was a shame even if the performance wasn't up to scratch! Isaiah re-enters at #12, just two places shy of his #10 peak. Further down, we see new entries for Blanche, Lucie Jones and Alma with their Eurovision tracks - the first charting song for all three artists.

Away from Eurovision, it was a big week for concerts too. On Saturday night, I went to see The Vamps (and had to watch Eurovision on catch-up!). They see a small impact on the singles chart with new single Hands, with Mike Perry and Sabrina Carpenter, entering at #25 less than 24 hours after its studio version was made available. Expect a big climb for that next week! Sabrina was one of three support acts at the concert (alongside The Tide and New Hope Club), and she enters at #7 with her recent solo single Thumbs, automatically becoming her highest charting hit after previous single On Purpose charted at #8.

I also went to see Bebe Rexha on Thursday night, and alongside her EP climbing back into the album chart top 5 at #4, her new single with Lil Wayne debuts at #2. This is Bebe's highest charting single to date, outdoing the #3 peak of Hey Mama, and her lead artist peak of #6 achieved by both F.F.F. and No Broken Hearts. Lil Wayne also achieves his highest position so far, and in fact, his first top 10 hit! His collaboration with DJ Khaled and others reached #11 a few weeks ago but has since failed to crack the top 10.

Elsewhere, Miley Cyrus returns with new single Malibu at #14. She previously achieved three top 10s, two #9 hits with We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball, plus her highest peaker, #8 hit Fall Down with will.i.am despite that not being an official single! Polish popstar Margaret also returns with a new single, following up her #5 hit Cool Me Down with What You Do, new this week at #16.
