Joseph's Hit 40

This week's highest new entry comes from Laura Mvula, who claims her fourth top 20 hit and second top 10 with new single Ready or Not, recorded for the House of Fraser Christmas advert. Laura previously achieved a #3 single in 2013 with Green Garden, which was top 15 in my end-of-year chart that year also. It's her first charting song since 2015's You Work For Me, a soundtrack single for The Man From U.N.C.L.E, which got to #12.

American boyband After Romeo are newcomers to my chart, only achieving their debut hit a few weeks ago when Pull Over debuted at #31. It stalled for a couple of weeks, moving 31-31-30, but this week it vaults up to #9, a new personal best for them. It's also a second top 10 hit for Silentó, who features on the single version of Pull Over (a solo version existed on their Good Things EP beforehand). He previously got to #5 with Vamps collaboration Volcano.

In more good boyband news, The Fooo Conspiracy's new single Who Doesn't Love Love jumps 16 places to become their second top 20 hit. It follows #7 hit My Girl from earlier this year, although another track Summer Love was released between the two and failed to make my top 40. It may still continue to climb and become their second top 10 hit at this rate!

Further down this week's new chart, we see new entries from Gabrielle Aplin, JP Cooper and this year's John Lewis advert soundtrack courtesy of Vaults. Expect these to climb more next week, when I'll speak about them in further detail, but for now, it is a new peak for JP Cooper and the debut chart hit for Vaults.

Also reaching a new personal best this week is Christopher, twice over in fact. This time last week, his highest peak was #9 - this week he's had two singles climb higher than that. Matoma collaboration Take Me Back jumps five places to #4, and solo single Heartbeat climbs 12 places to #8, meaning both Christopher and Matoma have two tracks in this week's top 10 (Matoma's Vamps collaboration All Night holds at #3).

In addition to all of this, Louisa Johnson's So Good becomes only the third song since the beginning of May to manage more than a single week at the top. This also marks the first week that the top 2 hasn't changed since May, when Joel Adams' Please Don't Go and Tom Odell's Magnetised held at #1 and #2 respectively. For the last non-moving top 3, it's even further back, when Charlie Puth's We Don't Talk Anymore, Shawn Mendes' Stitches, and Joel Adams' Please Don't Go (again) stayed stable in the top 3, in that order.
