Chart

Lewis Top 40

I had previously predicted that this week was going to see the fall of Emma Blackery after her 3 week hold of Sucks To Be You at #1. Things didn't happen as planned, however, as a new track of hers Look What You Made Me Do (not to be confused with the Taylor Swift rip-off track) enters the chart and claims the #1 spot, making her the first artist in my charts to not only have two songs at number #1 but to have two back to back number ones. Nothing Without You benefits from the Christmas season ending and climbs to #2, while last week's #1 Sucks To Be You stays at a pretty healthy #3. Blackery holds the top three of the chart - although her presence in the top 10 is significantly reduced from 5 last week to just these 3.

#4 is held by a new entry of Stormzy and MNEK's Blinded By Your Grace Pt. 2 while #5 is held by a re-entry of Ed Sheeran's Dive. Rita Ora's Anywhere debuts at #6, Rita's highest position in the chart so far; while Carly Rae Jepson's Roses holds on at #7 - staying consistently within the top ~10. Ed Sheeran's The Man also climbs back in to the Top 10 to #8 while Nesbitt's Make Me Fall reaches a personal best at #9, as does Peroxide at #10.

Sheppard's Coming Home sees a pretty significant drop of 6 spaces from last week to fall just out of the Top 10 at #11. Nina and Ed continue to benefit from the semi-end of the Blackery era with SeesawLittle Bird and Jessica re-entering the charts at #12, #13 and #14 respectively, with Little Bird reaching it's personal peak. Romanian Eurovision 2017 song Yodel It! leaves the Top 10 for the first time in the last five weeks, appearing at #15 this week. Meanwhile, Nina's The Best You Had stays consistently at #16, joining The Man as the only track to be in 100% of charts at 6 weeks. Dua Lipa's New Rules breaks on to the chart, although at a slightly disappointing position of #17, pushing Nesbitt's Mr C down to #18. Eminem's River is one of the biggest non-festive songs to see a drop this week, falling 13 places from #6 to #19. Following it is the 4th Blackery track with Go The Distance falling a whopping 12 places out of the Top 10 to #20, hurt by the oversaturation of Blackery's music at the high-end but it comes off the best, compared to some of her other tracks.

At #21, Blackery's Don't Come Home leaves the Top 5, falling 17 places. Following it is Nina's Only Love re-entering at #22. MIKA enters the chart for the first time at #23 with the nostalgia classic of Grace Kelly. Lucy Spraggan's Christmas track Drink 'Til We Go Home falls from #2 to #24, which isn't too bad when it is taken in to account that the end of the festive season was always going to hurt it. It may have another few weeks left in the chart, yet. Following it is Nina's Boy, up 3 places, at #25 and Sheeran's Touch and Go re-entering at #26. Nesbitt also holds #27 with Way in the World which sits at #27. It was named by Spotify as my track of 2017 but the first chart of 2018 has not been kind to it. The Script's top charter this week is the debut of Science & Faith classic Nothing at #28 with their second being the re-entry of Rock The World at #30. Carly Rae Jepson's Tug of War occupies the spot in between, falling 3 spaces from last week.

The Pogues fall 20 spaces with Fairytale of New York with their days in the chart, for this year, looking very numbered. They'll be back next year, though! Jepson returns at #32 with Tonight, I'm Getting Over You - a disappointing appearance from a track that previously appeared in the Top 5. #33 to #35 are occupied by new tracks - Avicci & Rita Ora's Lonely Together; Lucy Spraggan's second charter Modern Day Frankenstein and Camila Cabello & Young Thug's Havana appearing at #35. Emma Blackery's Let Me Be appears at #36 and is her lowest song to chart - with The Promise failing to chart this week, despite appearing at #12, last week. Nesbitt's Chewing Gum appears at #37; Kodaline's High Hopes falls a disappointing 14 places to #38; Croatian Eurovision track My Friend by Jacques Houdek leaves the mid 20s area for the first time for a new low at #39 falling a dramatic 16 places and the final spot, #40, is held by Nina Nesbitt & Goody Grace with The Moments I'm Missing which falls 10 places from last week and just barely charts.
