Boyzone hold at Number 1 for a fifth consecutive week

Boyzone celebrate a fifth consecutive week at Number 1 with No Matter What. The hit single peaked above the list in the United Kingdom, and it is the first and so far only Boyzone song to become popular and to have charted in the United States. As of this week, the single is the boys’ biggest-scoring hit to date in their entire repertoire. Their previous biggest-scoring single was A Different Beat with 56,600 points. No Matter What has amassed over 56,856 points. The group continues to face competition from Volumia! and Jennifer Paige.

Aaliyah steps into the Top 10 with Are You That Somebody?  The single was released as a part of the film “Dr. Dolittle” its soundtrack. The song was a huge commercial success in the United States, especially on the pop radio stations. Internationally, the single performed lucratively as well. Are You That Somebody?  is Aaliyah her second Top 10-hit on this list, following The One I Gave My Heart To earlier this year. That single managed to peak at Number 9, her highest to date. This week, Are You That Somebody?  By Aaliyah peaks at Number 9.

Cher scores the highest debut of the week. Cher has already left a huge legacy in pop culture, scoring hit after hit worldwide. Commonly referred to by the media as the Goddess of Pop, the diva started her career as husband-wife duo Sonny & Cher, with singles such as I Got You Babe. By the end of 1967, they had sold 40 million records worldwide. Cher then went solo and scored hit singles such as Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) and Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves. Cher’s career has longevity and still to this date, she is widely popular. Cher also became an actress, television personality and activist for human rights.

Cher had relatively few hits on this list, since charting began in 1995. Cher had not release much music during that time and only a few singles made the list. Cher now makes a big comeback with Believe. The single is an up tempo-disco song that uses autotune. The single already is a huge commercial success, topping the charts worldwide. On this list, Believe debuts at Number 16. The single is already her highest-peaking single to date and promises to become a massive hit.

BLØF receives a Gold Certification for Wat Zou Je Doen?  The single became another big hit for the Dutch band, following the Number 2-hit Liefs uit Londen. The single coincidentally has reached the second position as well. The single became a big national success in the Holland. The single also received critical acclaim and aided the success of the additional album “Helder”. As of this week, the single has amassed over 40,000 points.
