Roxy Ro and Ronnie Flex continue to dominate the Dutch singer with their pop house song “Gaan We Weg”. The duet enters a third consecutive week at Number 1. Roxy Dekker continues to hold a steady streak of hits ever since “Satisfyer” last year. Her popularity is also growing rapidly nationwide, as her appearances at national festivals are so well attended that they have resulted in overcrowding. On this chart, Roxy Dekker does face some tough competition, despite big streaming figures. Little Mix’s last alumna JADE is deadest to score a solo Number 1 with “Angel of My Dreams”, staying still in second place for a third consecutive week. She currently is the only Little Mix alumna without a solo chart-topper. Despite a lower peak position, “Angel of My Dreams” has already spent more weeks inside the Top 3 than Jesy’s “BOYZ” and Leigh-Anne’s “Don’t Say Love”. Perrie claims the best-scoring Little Mix-solo single yet with “Forget About Us”. If JADE were to overtake Roxy Dekker and Ronnie Flex, Little Mix will be the first ever girl group from which all members have scored a solo chart-topper.
Brat summer might have started out as a meme on stan twitter, but Charli XCX has been the talk of the charts ever since the release of her sixth album Brat. The cover art itself has inspired countless debates and was adopted by U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential campaign. The singles also reach new heights of success. Charli XCX lands four entries inside the Top 10 this week. Her internet-breaking duet with Lorde “girl, so confusing” rebounds to #4, her hit single “360” returns to #5, while “Apple” soars to #6. It earns the Essex-born singer her ninth Top 10-song entry to date. An undeniable earworm, a viral dance helped “Apple” break out into the mainstream. That’s only three songs though, as an all new Top 3-debut leads Charli’s takeover.
“Guess” remixed with Billie Eilish starts at #3 this week, earning her and Charli XCX the highest new entry of the week. In May 2024, Eilish stated in an interview with Zane Lowe that she has collaborated with an artist as a featured guest for the first time in her career. This artist turned out to be no one less than Charli XCX. An accompanying music video resulted in another fan-crazed internet-takeover. The single debuted at #3 on the Global Spotify Top 50, earning Charli XCX her highest debut to date. On my personal chart, “Guess” also debuts at #3, earning Charli her landmark tenth Top 10-hit, and Billie earns her eighth. It marks Billie Eilish her strongest debut since her Bond anthem “No Time to Die”. With Brat summer seemingly endless, this duo could rise to the top next week. It also marks the fourth time this year Charli XCX earns the highest new entry of the week – “360” at #18, “girl, so confusing” at #1, and “Apple” at #17. Mimi Webb also earned the highest new entry of the week four times last year.
Meanwhile, Colombian queen of reggaeton Karol G debuts at #19 with the summer song “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”. It is a merengue song with elements of mambo, very reminiscent of Rosalía’s big summer hit “Despechá”. Karol G earns her seventh Top 40-entry to date, already besting her previous two entries with a stellar debut. Further down Kendrick Lamar finally debuts with his Drake diss track “Not Like Us” at #26. It is Lamar's fifth and most recent installment in his series of diss tracks directed at Drake, with fans declaring he won the war. "Not Like Us" was met with acclaim and reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. It has been some time since Lamar charted on my own chart – his last entry being 2023’s “America Has a Problem” with Beyoncé. Rounding out the entries, is a re-entry by Perrie with her sophomore single “Tears” at #37. The summer-sounding song initially debuted and peaked at #13 before falling off the chart after only three weeks.
As Roxy Dekker enters a third week at Number 1, she enters a very special list: the Dutch singer now ranks as one of the ten best-scoring girl group-gone-solo singers of all time. Yes, before she broke out on her own with hits such as “Sugardaddy”, Dekker was a member of the teen girl group 6Times. The best-scoring and most successful girl group-gone-solo star of all time is, with little surprise, Beyoncé. After Destiny’s Child disbanded, the Houston-born star scored eight solo Number 1s, the most recent addition being this year’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”. In second place ranks Britain’s treasure Cheryl, who had a very successful chart run between 2009 and 2014, raking up six big Number 1s. In third place ranks Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello, who found her solo footing with 2017’s “Havana”. She scored thirty solo Top 40-hits, nearly triple the amount of Fifth Harmony’s. Four out of five Spice Girls follow, the most successful being Mel C, despite Geri Halliwell having scored the most solo Number 1s between 1999 and 2001. Roxy Dekker now ranks tenth on this special ranking. For a full overview of the best-scoring girl group-gone-solo stars of all time, see the list below this chart.
