Britney Spears celebrates a sixth consecutive week at Number 1 and receives a Platinum Certification

Britney Spears earns herself a sixth consecutive week at Number 1 with ...Baby One More Time. The single is speedily becoming a global phenomenon, topping almost every worldwide chart it enters. Most notably, the single topped the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Charts. The chart-topper receives a Platinum Certification this week. This is Britney Spears her first Platinum certified single. As of this week, the hit single has amassed over 65,000 points.

DJ Jean steps into the Top 10 with The Launch. DJ Jean is actually Jan Engelaar, a disco jockey from the Netherlands. DJ Jean has been an influential figure in the Dutch music industry for a long time, performing in popular clubs and promoting all kinds of music. Now, he has his big breakthrough with The Launch. The single is already a big Top 10-hit in the Official Dutch lists, whilst slowly becoming an international release as well. On this list, The Launch reaches a peak at Number 9 this week.

Mr. Oizo scores the highest debut of the week. Mr. Oizo is a French electronic musician, DJ and film director, who is now having his international breakthrough with Flat Line. The song serves as a bonus track on Oizo’s debut album “Analog Worms Attack”. The single was publicized in many Levi’s commercials and garnered chart success because of it. Its subsequent music video is also a success, which features Flat Eric, a puppet, head banging to the track. Flat Line debuts at Number 19 this week.

Britney Spears her reign with ...Baby One More Time is highly celebrated, although it has one downside. 2Pac his single post-humous Changes has been desperately stuck at Number 2 for four consecutive weeks, preventing him from scoring his first ever chart-topper. Nonetheless, Changes is 2Pac his highest-peaking single to date and one of his best-scoring releases to date. Internationally, the single is another huge success for the late rapper and proves how influential his music remains to be. As of this week, the song has amassed over 40,000 points.
