B*Witched reach Number 1 after a record-breaking climb; Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” goes 3 x Platinum

B*Witched finally climbs to Number 1 with C’est La Vie after spending four weeks in the second position. B*Witched is the first ever Irish act to peak above the list. It took the girls a very long time to make it to the peak, having climbed the list for eleven weeks. B*Witched matches Céline Dion her record for longest climb to Number 1, as All By Myself also took eleven weeks to peak above the list. B*Witched dethrones Millennium by Robbie Williams, which only spent one week in the crown position.

All Saints jumps into the Top 10 with Bootie Call. The single is the girls’ fifth single taken from their highly successful eponymous debut album. The album previously spawned the massive hit single Never Ever, which became All Saints their breakthrough on this list. As of recent, that song has amassed over 90,000 points. The girls continued their success with Under the Bridge, which peaked at Number 4 a few months ago. Bootie Call marks All Saints their third Top 10-hit on this list. The song is another international success for the group, especially in their native United Kingdom. The newest single peaks at Number 7 this week.

BLØF enters the Top 10 with Wat Zou Je Doen? The single is another massive hit for the Dutch group, who are becoming more and more popular with every single. The group previously had a big hit with Liefs Uit Londen, which peaked at Number 2 and 86,000 points. Success followed with Aan de Kust (Live). The group’s album “Helder” is phenomenal success in the Netherlands as well. This week, BLØF scores their second Top 10-entry with Wat Zou Je Doen?, finishing at Number 9.

Boyzone scores the highest debut of the week. The Irish boy group have scored many success singles before, spawning nine Top 10-entries over the course of three albums. Some of their best-scoring releases include A Different Beat and All That I Need. The group now enters with the fifth single of their album “Where We Belong”; No Matter What. The song was originally written 1996 musical “Whistle Down the Wind”. The song opens with huge opening numbers, debuting at Number 13.

Brandy and Monica receive a 3 x Platinum Certification for their hit single The Boy Is Mine. The single became the girls’ biggest hit on this list in no time, marking the girls’ first Number 1-hit. The single spent five consecutive weeks above the list, fighting off competition from Ultimate Kaos and Billie Piper. The release of the song was paired with unnecessary drama, as the media speculated over a feud between Brandy and Monica. They stated ongoing differences caused a fight, but that is not yet confirmed by the girls themselves. Regardless, as of this week, the single has amassed over 100,000 points.
