Boosted by incredible streaming figures, Cässo lands his first Number 1 with his viral “Prada” featuring Raye and D-Block Europe. The single has become an overnight success across Europe, especially in the Netherlands. Producer Cässo originally made the song to play at house parties and raves, before he then uploaded the song to Soundcloud with massive exposure. The song remixes D-Block Europe and Raye’s 2020-collaboration “Ferrari Horses”, which enjoyed success in the UK. Cässo’s unlikely story lands him his first ever Number 1-single. The featured D-Block Europe also take home their very first chart-topper, while Raye earns her second on my personal list – it follows the Number 1-smash “Escapism”.
Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne made her solo debut earlier this year with “Don’t Say Love”, which debuted at Number 1 with spectacular opening numbers. She followed Jesy Nelson as the second member of Little Mix to earn a solo chart-topper. The debut single leaves my personal chart this week after twelve weeks, but it is already replaced by the follow-up “My Love”, which debuts at #3–the highest entry of the week. The Afrobeats-infused song marks a departure from “Don’t Say Love” its garage-oriented sound, further showcasing Leigh-Anne her flexibility as a solo artist. “My Love” features Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, one of the biggest stars in Afrobeats right now. She had a Top 3-smash hit this year on my personal list with “Rush”.
Olivia Rodrigo makes a big splash following the release of her sophomore album Guts. Her debut album Sour was an undeniable success, spawning four Top 3-singles including the Number 1s “drivers license” and “Good 4 U”. Guts can been seen as a more evolved version of its predecessor, incorporating more punk and rock sounds. Its lead single “Vampire” debuted at Number 1 on my personal chart, earning the biggest debut of the year so far. Its follow-up single “Bad Idea Right?” also debuted inside the Top 10. Following the highly anticipated release of Guts, its previous two singles and the new single “Get Him Back!” all receive a major boost. “Vampire” rebounds to #12, “Bad Idea Right?” rebounds to #17, and the new rap rock single “Get Him Back!” debuts at #11 – earning Rodrigo her eight Top 40-hit.
SZA moves into the Top 10 with her latest official single “Snooze”, peaking at #10 on this week’s chart. It is the sixth official single of her second studio album SOS, which was released late last year. The hit project previously spawned the Top 3-hits “Good Days” and “Kill Bill”. The R&B-infused ballad sees SZA reflecting on a relationship that she wants to give her all despite feeling solitary in that position. It received a music video featuring cameos by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco, whom play SZA her love interests. As “Snooze” moves up into the Top 10, SZA earns her landmark tenth Top 10-hit on my chart.
Further down, Doja Cat debuts with “Demons” – a new promotional single for her upcoming album. Its lead single “Paint the Town Red” currently charts at #2, one of her highest peaks to date. “Demons” sets off at #22, supported by a truly terrifying music video. Dutch duo Suzan & Freek debut at #29 with their collaboration “Vas-Y (Ga Maar)” featuring Dutch-French singer Claude. The featured young talent had a big national hit last year with “Mon Dernier Mot”. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion make their return at #38 with the brass “Bongos”. It marks the rappers their second collaboration; the first obviously being the iconic smash Number 1 "WAP”, which went multi-platinum on my list. Both artists their last charting entry were collaborations with main pop girlies: Cardi B featured on Lizzo’s “Rumors” in 2021, while Megan Thee Stallion claimed gold with Dua Lipa on “Sweetest Pie” last year.
