Cheryl Cole opens the 10s with a tenth week at Number 1 with “Fight For This Love”, making her debut solo single the second-longest-running Number 1-hit of all time

The 00s were an amazing decade for British pop-star Cheryl Cole. The Brit had immense chart success as a member of the hit-girl group Girls Aloud, with whom she scored eight Number 1s and twenty-two Top 10-hits. “Sound of the Underground”, “Love Machine” and “The Promise” are amongst their greatest hit, of which the latter achieved Diamond Status with over 160,000 points earned. Cheryl Cole debuted as a solo artist in 2008 with “Heartbreaker” featured the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am. Her big solo debut was yet to come with the release of “Fight For This Love” in late 2009. The single became a massive success in the UK and on this list, debuting at Number 1 with the biggest opening-numbers of the year. On this list, Cheryl Cole now earns herself a tenth week at Number 1 with “Fight For This Love”. The single is now the second-longest-running Number 1-hit of all time, only behind the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe”. That single claimed eleven non-consecutive weeks above the charts in 1996 and 1998. Cheryl could shatter the Spice Girls’ records if she were to hold onto the crown position for only two more weeks.
