Emma Bunton scores her first solo Number 1, debuting above the list with huge opening numbers

Emma Bunton lands at Number 1 on this week’s chart with “What Took You So Long?”. The single is the ex-Spice Girl her first ever chart-topper on this list. The new song is her second release as a solo act, following “What I Am” with Tin Tin Out earlier last year. Emma easily crushes her competition, which are two girl groups; Atomic Kitten with “Whole Again” and Destiny’s Child with “Survivor” in the second and third position respectively. Baby Spice is the fourth member of the Spice Girls to nab a solo Number 1, following Melanie C, Geri and Victoria. The only member who has not scored a solo chart-topper yet is Mel B.

Aside from Emma’s Number 1-debut, the other highest debut of the week is claimed by Jennifer Lopez. She enters with her newest single “Play”, taken from her sophomore album J.LO. The singer-and-actress has had incredible success already, as she scored two Number 1s with “Waiting For Tonight” and “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and claimed platinum-records with “If You Had My Love” and “Let’s Get Loud”. Her newest song is off to a great start, as the catchy “Play” debuts at Number 16 this week.
