Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” leads an unmoved Top 3

Miley Cyrus absolutely dominates this week’s chart with the break-up anthem “Flowers”. Over the last week, it has become an international hit, topping every major chart. It also earned a record-breaking 100 million streams on Spotify in its opening week. “Flowers” is the lead single to Miley Cyrus’s upcoming eighth studio album, set to be released March, and a response song directed to her ex Liam Hemsworth. Its music video and lyrics also make several references to their relationship and Hemsworth’s cheating allegations. On my personal list, “Flowers” marks Cyrus her fifth Number 1-hit. This week, it leads an unmoved Top 3, with ex-chart-toppers “Escapism” by RAYE at #2, and Maan & Goldband’s “Stiekem” at #3.

Suzan & Freek continue their streak of Top 10-hits with the 1980s-inspired “Slapeloosheid”. The single was released in anticipation of the duo their new documentary Tussen Jou en Mij, which details the early years of their career and how their record-breaking success impacts their personal lives. Between 2019 and this year, Suzan & Freek have scored back-to-back hits in both the Netherlands and Belgium. They are on course to become one of the Netherlands’ greatest. On my personal list, “Slapeloosheid” marks Suzan & Freek their eleventh Top 10-hit to date.

Inside the Top 20, Raye her “The Thrill is Gone” reaches a new peak at #11, following the success of her chart-topping hit “Escapism”. It is supported by increasing streaming figures. Taylor Swift rebounds to #13 with “Anti-Hero”, while Dutch producer Trobi his “Love Song” featuring Ronnie Flex and Bilal Wahib moves up to #16. Shakira her break-up anthem with Bizarrap breaks the Top 20, peaking at #17 this week. It becomes Shakira her first Top 20-peak since 2018’s Top 2-hit “Clandestino”. British young talent Holly Humberstone her “Could You Afford to Lose Me?” peaks at #18, while Metro Boomin’ his “Creeping” rounds out the Top 20, earning a new chart peak.

Dutch actor-turned-rapper Bilal Wahib secures the top new entry of the week. The controversial rapper has been scoring solid streaming hits, while also collaborating with high-profile rappers and singers. He has previously collaborated with Ronnie Flex, Emma Heesters and Antoon. This week, his collaboration “Ik Space” with Fabiënne Bergmans comes flying in at #24. The Voice-fans might recognize Bergmans from winning the very first season of the Dutch The Voice Kids back in 2012. After the winning the tv-competition, she released a few solo singles, including “Space” from the popular teen film Spijt, which she now has reworked with Wahib into “Space”. It’s become an immediate streaming success on Dutch Spotify, while on my personal list, it becomes Wahib his seventh Top 40-entry.

Further down, Dutch-Molokan singer Zoë Tauran debuts at #29 with “Therapie”, her first solo entry to date. She previously collaborated with prominent rappers, such as Frenna and Kris Kross Amsterdam. Italian Eurovision-winners Måneskin re-enter the list with “Supermodel”, following the release of their new album Rush! The single previously peaked at #21, becoming the group their highest-charting single to date. Sabrina Carpenter debuts at #39 with “Nonsense”, her new viral hit taken from breakout album Emails I Can't Send. She previously charted at #29 with “Skin”, which was allegedly a response song to Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license”.
