Following last week’s spectacular Number 1-debut – the first one of 2025, to be precise – Sam Fender and Olivia Dean easily hold the crown position for a second week, ahead of Fender’s headlining slot at Down The Rabbit Hole Festival. Last week, their duet version of “Rein Me In” opened at the top with the highest numbers of the year so far. The duet was debuted live on June 6, 2025, during Sam Fender his headline show at London Stadium, where Olivia Dean was one of two supporting acts during the show. It was originally included on Fender’s third studio album People Watching, which spawned two Number 1s; the title track and “Little Bit Closer”. “Rein Me In” marks Sam Fender his seventh chart-topper on this list, tying the North Shields-born singer with Justin Timberlake as the male act with the second most #1s of all time. Meanwhile, Olivia Dean earned her first Number 1-record. It also boosts her solo song “Nice to Each Other” higher up my chart, currently at #13, nearly earning Dean her first solo Top 10-entry.
One of the most influential and acclaimed Dutch hip hop artists in the Netherlands is, without a doubt, Sef. Real name Yousef Gnaoui – he made his first appearance on the Dutch charts with collaborations with popular acts The Partysquad and The Opposites in the late Noughties. Before that, Sef founded the hip hop formation Flinke Namen with The Flexican. Cross-overs such as “Licht van de Laser” and “Tijdmachine” became hit singles that resonated with mainstream audiences, though his biggest seller would become the juggernaut “Bagagedrager” with Gers Pardoel (#5 on this chart). In the early 2010s, his music took a more socially involved turn. Songs like “De Leven” were critically acclaimed for its profound lyricism and was recently covered by Kevin & S10. In the 2020s, he formed IJSLAND with colleague Abel. His fifth album Ik Zou Voor Veel Kunnen Sterven explores contemporary issues and was rightfully hailed as one of the most important Dutch albums ever made. Ahead of his sixth album, Sef made his Top 40-comeback with “Voor Alles Bang”. Following its release last week, Sef is back in the Top 10 for the first time in thirteen years – his Eurodance-collaboration “Oeps” with popular hit singer Froukje earns him a #5-debut. Meanwhile, his own “Voor Alles Bang” peaks at #11. It all earns Sef ninth place on the “Top 10 Acts with the Most Time Between Top 10-hits” – a prestigious record that places him between Brandy and Delta Goodrem.
The artist with the most time between Top 10-hits is Shania Twain. There were over 21 years between 2002 pop hit “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” and 2023’s duet “Unhealthy” with Anne-Marie ahead of her Glastonbury Legends slot. Elton John held the record when “Cold Heart” with Dua Lipa made it to #2 in 2021, earning him his first Top 10-hit since 2003’s “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” with the forgotten boy band Blue. Michael Jackson briefly claimed the record with his posthumous song “Love Never Felt So Good” with Justin Timberlake in 2014. It should be noted that – thanks to the streaming age – legacy artists have been more able to make a reappearance on the charts. The 2020s already saw the return of Stromae, Kylie Minogue and Becky G. Collaborations also are a surefire way to make it back onto the charts; De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Madonna, Acda en De Munnik, and now, Sef, all earned their first Top 10-hit in years thanks to a well-timed collaboration with another popular artist. Meanwhile, UK’s most iconic festival Glastonbury acts impact this week’s chart. PinkPantheress leads the pack with “Illegal” at #22. The garage track went viral on TikTok recently – “My name is Pink and it’s really nice to meet you – and the song was loudly sang back to PinkPantheress during her set at the Woodsies Stage. “Illegal” follows up the Top 10-hit “Tonight”, which became Pink’s second single to reach the Top 10 in May. Lewis Capaldi made an emotional comeback with a surprise set at the main stage following a few years of radio silence. The “Someone You Loved”-singer has been struggling with Tourette’s syndrome; he even had to end his Glasto-set in 2023 early because he lost his voice. It led Capaldi to write “Survive”, an emotional new single about his recent struggles. It debuts at #27 on my chart and earns Capaldi his landmark tenth Top 40-hit. JADE’s new solo effort “Plastic Box” lifts up one place to a new peak at #15 following her well-received set at The Woodsies Stage, while Lorde her “What Was That” soars back to #12 after a surprise pre-lunchtime set that took over the internet.
