The Spice Girls and All Saints remain in locked positions for this week’s Number 1

The Brits lead the list. The Spice Girls, All Saints and Sheryl Crow remain in locked positions in their fight for Number 1. The Spice Girls are the strongest contenders this week, earning Too Much a fourth consecutive week above the list. As of this week, Too Much has also amassed over 40,000 points, earning the single a well-deserved Gold Certification. All Saints and Sheryl Crow do follow in strong pursuit and could easily dethrone the leading ladies of their crown.

Janet Jackson scores her first Top 10-entry with Together Again. After a few months of radio silence, the American pop legend has return gloriously. Janet Jackson left an enormous legacy in the music industry, scoring hit after hit on the Billboard 100 and revolutionizing the role of music videos in pop culture. On this list, which began charting in January 1995, Janet Jackson has entered the list two times before. Her biggest success to date is Scream which features her brother Michael Jackson. Janet Jackson now climbs into the Top 10 for the first time, taking Together Again to Number 8.

Run-DMC and Jason Nevins score their first Top 10-entry with It’s Like That. The remix of the original by Run-DMC themselves has been taking over Europe by storm, topping the charts in the United Kingdom and Germany. Run-DMC is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential acts in the history of hip hop culture and one of the most famous hip hop acts of the 1980s. This week, Run-DMC and Jason Nevins their It’s Like That peak at Number 9.

The Lighthouse Family score the highest debut of the week. The Lighthouse Family is an English duo known for popularizing the term “easy listening”. Their 1995 debut album “Ocean Drive” consisted mainly of slow, accessible songs that could be easily played in the background. The success was not a snooze though, as it sold over 1,8 million copies in the United Kingdom. The Lighthouse Family returns with High, which is becoming a considerable success throughout Europe. On this list, the group debuts at Number 19.

2Pac makes his posthumous debut with I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto. 2Pac, whose real name is Tupac Shakur, died in a shooting on September 13, 1996, only aged 25. His death left the world in shock and mourning. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Much of 2Pac his work has been noted for addressing contemporary social issues that plagued inner cities, and he is considered a symbol of resistance and activism against inequality. 2Pac enters the list with his first ever single to be based on archived material, debuting at Number 27 this week.
