The Spice Girls score their ninth consecutive Number 1-hit, debuting above the list with huge opening numbers

The Spice Girls have had an eventful few months as Geri Halliwell decided to leave the group. Nonetheless, the remaining four girls have released Viva Forever as the fourth single from their sophomore album “Spiceworld”. The single will be the last release to feature Geri Halliwell on the vocals. The last single is met with extremely high success, debuting at Number 1 and giving the girls their ninth consecutive chart-topper. The single dethrones Because We Want To by Billie Piper, which spent one week crowning the list.

Viva Forever follows previous successes such as Wannabe and Say You’ll Be There. Its additional album “Spiceworld” previously spawned the other Number 1-hits Spice Up Your Life, Too Much and Stop. The girls’ best-scoring single to date remains the Diamond-certified Wannabe. That single has amassed over 190,000 points and holds as the best-scoring single of all time. In total, the Spice Girls have spent forty-six weeks above the list, more than any other act. With Geri Halliwell gone, the other four girls have announced to make new music soon as a fourpiece. With or without Ginger Spice, the Spice Girls still hold as the best-scoring act of all time on this list.

B*Witched step into the Top 10 with C’est La Vie. B*Witched is an Irish girl group consisting of twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinéad O'Carroll. The girls are currently becoming the latest pop sensation, climbing the European countries rapidly with their debut single. C’est La Vie was already a Number 1-hit on the UK Official Charts, where it is one of the most successful singles of this year. B*Witched is aiming for big success on this list as well. The girls are certainly off to a strong start, peaking at Number 10 this week.

On this list, Acda en de Munnik were met with success as well, peaking at Number 2 behind The Boy Is Mine by Brandy and Monica. As of this week, the single has amassed over 40,000 points.

Boyzone receive a Gold Certification for All That I Need. The single is the boys’ sixth single to achieve a Gold Status. The single became the boys’ ninth Top 10-hit, peaking at Number 5 after an eleven week-climb. The boys their best-scoring single to date remains A Different Beat with over 55,000 points. As of this week, All That I Need has amassed over 40,000 points.

Brandy and Monica celebrate a Platinum Certification for their chart-topping hit single The Boy Is Mine. The single is one of the best-scoring singles of this year. As of this week, The Boy Is Mine has scored over 65,000 points.

Aside from their new chart-topper, the Spice Girls have another reason to celebrate this week. Stop receives a 2 x Platinum Certification this week. The single became the girls’ eighth Number 1-single on this list. The song did face very strong competition from My Heart Will Go On by Céline Dion, but the girls eventually hit the crown position. Stop is the girls’ eighth single to receive a 2 x Platinum Certification, continuing their streak of having every release so far have at least certified 2 x Platinum. As of this week, Stop has amassed over 90,000 points.
