TLC easily holds at Number 1 for a second consecutive week; the Backstreet Boys score a big Top 10-debut

TLC celebrates a second consecutive week at Number 1 with No Scrubs. The song has already topped the Billboard Hot 100 and numerous European charts. On this list, TLC scored their first chart-topper with Creep in February 1995. The single receives a Gold Certification this week, a strong achievement. TLC has garnered four Gold Certifications in their time on this list and two Platinum Certification. As of this week, No Scrubs has amassed over 40,000 points. The hit song fights off competition from Billie Piper with Honey To The Bee.

German artists are in a lift this year, as German-bound successes such as Sasha enter the list. The new addition to these artists is Liquido, an alternative band who is already a big success in their home country. Liquido now breaks international boundaries with Narcotic. The song is a big success in the Netherlands and middle-European nations. On this list, the single jumps into the Top 10. This is Liquido their first ever entry in the Top 10. Their single peaks at Number 7 this week.

There is no denying that the Backstreet Boys are a phenomenal pop sensation. The group has scored massive hits all over the world and sold millions with their music. On this list, the boys have had immense success. The Backstreet Boys have managed to peak at Number 2 four times without reaching the top spot and are the best-scoring boy band of all time alongside Boyzone. The Backstreet Boys now score a massive Top 10-debut with I Want It That Way. The new song is already breaking international records, debuting at Number 1 on almost every list. The new song debuts at Number 10 on this chart. I Want It That Way is the boys’ eighth Top 10-single and marks their highest opening week ever.

BLØF receive a Gold Certification for Harder Dan Ik Hebben Kan. The Dutch group hailing from Zeeland has already had big success on this list before, note Liefs Uit Londen. BLØF then scored their highest opening week with the lead single of their highly anticipated new album “Helder”, which led to Harder Dan Ik Hebben Kan. The single marked BLØF their third Top 10-single. As of this week, the song has amassed over 40,000 points. The single is still charting within the Top 10.

Speaking of German artists in a lift, Sasha receives a Gold Certification for If You Believe. The pop boy singer scored a big hit with his cheesy love song, which is very reminiscent of music by Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow. Sasha his single became a big international success, most in middle-European countries. On this list, the song peaked at Number 2 behind No Scrubs by TLC. As of this week, Sasha his debut single has amassed over 40,000 points.

2Pac receives a Platinum Certification for Changes. The post-humous single is another massive success for the late American rapper, taken from his compilation album “Greatest Hits”. 2Pac has already scored big singles on this list before, most notably with Do For Love and California Love. His newest Changes is now his biggest-scoring release on this list, holding over 65,000 points as of this week. The song peaked at Number 2 and spent five consecutive weeks in that position.

The biggest breakthrough artist of this year must be Britney Spears. The teen-singer debuted worldwide with …Baby One More Time, which went on to become a multi-million success. Most notably, the single topped the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Charts. On this list, the hit single spent eight weeks at Number 1. This week, the single receives a 3 x Platinum Certification for having scored over 100,000 points. The single is the best-scoring single of the year so far, outscoring competition from the Spice Girls and Bryan Adams. Britney Spears promises to not be a one-hit-wonder as new material is on its way.
