Luke’s Top Tracks - Bleachers survive the New Year and spend another week at #1

Well, in an interesting turn of events we’ve got a Christmas song at the top for the first chart of 2025 - “Merry Christmas, Please Don’t Call” spends its fourth consecutive week at #1. The fact the song has managed to even stay on the chart, let alone finish at the top yet again, is a testament to its enduring success and longevity. A huge well done to Bleachers! Following closely behind is a non-mover for Billie Eilish’s “CHIHIRO” at #2, still riding remarkably high on its thirty-first charting week! Absolutely huge. Rounding off this week’s top three is a non-mover for SZA’s “Kitchen”. Not only is this one of her highest-charting singles but it is one of four from her deluxe edition of “SOS” to appear in this week’s top fifty - absolutely huge for her.

Who will be claiming that crown next week? Well, it’s always possible that Bleachers might do it again, and actually it’s very uncertain. Some new entries emerge as we enter 2025, most notably Charli xcx’s “Track 10” and Lady Gaga’s “Disease”, debuting at #10 and #17 respectively. We’ve also got some huge climbs, the biggest being Sabrina Carpenter’s “Juno” which rebounds an insane THIRTY spots to #16, and other notable climbs including Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” which climbs 12 places to reach a new peak of #11, Charli xcx’s and Ariana Grande’s “Sympathy is a knife” remix rebounding 10 places to #15 and Charli xcx’s and Lorde’s huge remix of “Girl, so confusing” which rebounds 15 places to #19.

Could 2025 see the continuation of bold, vibrant pop hits, or will there be another spike in popularity? Will 2024’s pop girls; Chappell, Sabrina, Charli and Billie; continue to reign supreme, or will we see someone else take the reigns? We’ll just have to wait and see.
