Thomas Brückner, better known as DJ and producer Tomcraft, sadly passed away on July 15th at the age of 49
Duke Fakir from Motown legends Four Tops passed away at the age of 88 on July 22nd

So Fresh So Clean [Record of the Week]:

“Angel of My Dreams” – JADE

I don't like to go for a particularly high-profile release in this spot, but 'Angel of My Dreams' the debut single from Little Mix alumni, JADE, is bristling with such kinetic chaos I just cannot resist it this week. The soft sampling of Sandie Shaw classic 'Puppet on a String' is utilized perfectly in this patchwork offering of multiple styles in its three minutes and eighteen seconds. The jury is out on whether its schizophrenic sound will last the test of time but whether it goes down as a 2024 stalwart, an embarrassing time capsule of this year, or anywhere in between I would guess that when you hear this thing on the radio this week, it won't quietly slip on by in the background! (Take note, Katy Perry!)

Interesting to see Angel of My Dreams debut straight at the top! Great to see Move, Mwaki and My Oh My climb quite high! Also great to see 15 MINUTES debut quite high. Also great to see quite a few dance songs scattered across the place!

'Angel of my Dreams' is just my kind of nuts. I think its probably the most nuts, in a good way, track out there. At least since one or two of the Eurovision songs in that is beautifully all over the place. I can see a time when it might get a little jarring and we'll get 'over it', but right now its uniqueness really lifts it a level above.

'Move', 'Mwaki', especially are riding the summer vibes movement we're still enjoying, and 'My Oh My' is just a bit of an irresistible Avers style team-up that is most welcome. I believe all three may have a fair bit left in the tank and see new peaks next week.

Ditto my comment above regarding 'Angel of my Dreams', and 'Mwaki'. Also as above, I'm expecting new peaks for '15 Minutes', and '100 Lives' in next week's chart as well. I have yet to get to my 'New Music' playlist this week though, so I have no idea if there could be a big influx of new stuff as yet.

I will say, I didn't expect one of the Little Mix spin-offs/solo releases would have the capability of hitting my top spot but the artistry in 'Angel of my Dreams' should be celebrated and is very worthy of some love.
