Effervescence - June 20th, 2024

Welcome along to Effervescence!

We're on week 6 of the sixteen-week Summer Season – The longest season on the calendar!

An upcoming Effervescence note - There will be some 'American hits/classics' on July 4th for American Independence Day! Then, on July 11th, we will have our next full takeover edition. To celebrate 'International Day of Rock 'n' Roll' (July 13th). That'll be a 75-strong chart rundown made up of my picks from the veteran genre across the years.

Noteworthy cultural notes for this week:

  • The 2024 UEFA European Football Championship, or 'Euro 2024', is ongoing from the opening ceremony on June 14th to the final on July 14th in Germany
  • It's American Independence Day on Thursday, July 4th
  • It's International Rock 'n' Roll Day on Friday, July 13th
  • Parookaville ('PV' ), a German electronic dance music festival, takes place between July 17th and July 21st at Weeze Airport in Germany.

So Fresh So Clean [Record of the Week]:

Benjamin Ingrosso – “Look Who's Laughing Now Swedish hit machine Benjamin Ingrosso returns this week with another of the tracks he performed during his 3-hit, seven-minute medley performance during this year's Eurovision Song Contest Semi-final #1. 'Look Who's Laughing' now follows the recent Purple Disco Machine collab 'Honey Boy' and 'Kite'. The new track is another summer-tinged, toe-tapping, radio-friendly banger sure to keep us bopping all season.

['So Fresh So Clean' is a featured brand new song released on the Friday after last week's Effervescence chart. Sometimes it's a big release but I do love a random selection. The track will not necessarily be the debut with the highest chart position, if at all.]

This Week's Movers & Shakers:

Longest Running Entry

'Love Hurt Repeat' – Alle Farben, Lewis Thompson, Mae Muller (21 Weeks)

Highest New Entry

'Fair' – Billy Gillies ft. Betsy (#1)

Biggest Climber

'HOT TO GO!' – Chappell Roan (▲37)

Biggest Faller

'Illuminate' – Grace Davies (▼26)

Highest Dropout

'Swim' – Becky Hill (#51)

Notable Playlists

Effervescence (My Top 75) All 75 tracks listed from #75 to #1. This is a rotating playlist that updates every week. The playlist is locked from Thursday until Sunday - GUARANTEED. Updates can start as early as Monday. This is the best way of peaking for an entire 'first look' at next week's countdown. Positions are not locked in until Thursdays.

Euro 2024 Season As a bit of a football nut, I enjoy a football anthem during international tournaments every couple of years. This summer it's The European Championships from June 14th to July 14th, so for a bit of fun, I have cobbled together the best of this year's efforts as well as some of yesteryear's bonafide classics. Ample cheese and all, enjoy!

Summer Season 2024 The perfect accompaniment to your work day or commute is designed to provide a great soundtrack without worrying about constant repeating songs. If you listen long enough, you will find great summer music from old to new, well-known staples to unheard gems, across multiple genres. You're never far from something you know, or something you don't and they're all great for this time of year!

The Summer Season 2024 playlist is for Sunday, May 12th, 2024 to Saturday, August 31st, 2024. This contains my Summer Scorchers playlist plus anything new/relevant released for the 2024 season specifically.

Here is a cheeky blend of the above two playlists, you know, so things don't get too football-centric but are still included.

Hi there Maxon!

Nice to see "Please Please Please" in the top 10 with a huge gain, the big gain for "Happier" and the debuts for "Look Who's Laughing Now" (Your Track of the Week), "Barcelona", "Three Lions", "HEAT", "Zeros", "Mi Amor" and "Me Before You".

Great chart!
Take care.

If you want to check out my latest chart, here is the link to it:
Sergej's Personal Chart

Ahoy, Sergej!

As always I really appreciate your enthusiasm and interest in what we have going on around here. I thought you would be enjoying 'Look Who's Laughing Now' debuting in the Top 10. #47 in your own chart this week. I expect it's a likely big gain in the coming editions.

I have a question with Euro 2024 in full force and you being in the thick of it there in Germany. You may or may not have noticed I have made a separate Euro 2024 playlist and also incorporated that into my Summer Season 2024 circulation playlist. Are there any National songs, either official or unofficial that I have not discovered that would be worthy of me sticking in there? No obligation to respond or give an answer. I'm just interested.

As always said, thank you for stopping by and leaving the comment!

Well, I am mostly seeing the football (soccer) matches on German TV, mostly there are songs like "Wenn Du Mich Rufst" by Mark Forster and "Komm Schon" by Tim Bendzko which play on German TVs to hype up the games, outside of the official Euro song by MEDUZA, OneRepublic & Leony.

However, two songs that are currently everywhere on the German charts and football related are "Zeit, Dass Sich Was Dreht" by $oho Bahi and Herbert Grönemeyer and "Major Tom" by Peter Schilling (the unofficial german goal anthem).

Hopefully this'll do for suggestions of Euro-related songs.

Hey Maxon! :)

Glad to see the debuts for 'Look Who's Laughing Now', 'Barcelona', 'Three Lions', 'Heat', 'Vindaloo' & 'Me Before You'.

Good chart!

Hi! (I'm Sorry I'm extremely late)

Awesome to see Billie Gillies at number 1 with Fair!!! Great to see Happier go up 15 places! Also Great to see Zeros debut!

Great Chart

Take Care (I'm really Sorry)

Ahoy, Cheese!

Ha, no worries about the timing of any of your comments, ever. Drop them whenever works for you!

'Fair' really took me by surprise this week. When I saw Billy Gillies had a new one, I was intrigued. 'DNA' was good, it went Top 10 for me. Let's see what he's got next. Once I heard it it was something special. Very nostalgic. It instantly took me back to trances heyday at the turn of the century. I'm still absolutely loving it so it's looking good for a second week at the top, though Miss Carpenter and MEDUZA might take exception to that.

As for Happier, it's still on a very late momentum drive with me. It might potentially even enter the Top 40 next week. So much dance at the moment. It's Summer though, I guess we should expect it! The final track you mentioned, 'Zeros' is also still gaining momentum. Top 20 next week? We'll see!

Thank you for stopping by and dropping the comment!
