Effervescence recognizes the chart positions of The NME Top 20 Chart Weekly Singles Charts for this week in history. The same chart is recognized by The Official Chart Company, which compiles The Official UK Singles Chart today.
In The NME Top 20 Chart, the songs regularly shared a chart position due to finishing the week with the same sales figure (small sample size collated in the early days). For Effervescence continuity purposes, the song listed first on the source used will be given the higher of the shared positions. The only songs that can share a position are double A-side Singles. Both songs will be listed separately, with the same chart position for continuity purposes with double A-side singles.
The NME Top 20 Chart was presented as a Top 20. It has been modified here using the same week's Billboard Magazine (USA) Weekly Singles Chart (Top 20) and then the previous week's chart positions to expand the chart, as needed, to complete a Top 40 for continuity purposes with Effervescence.
Clarity on how this chart is compiled:
- The NME Top 20 Chart
- Billboard Magazine (USA) Weekly Singles Chart
- Any tracks that dropped out of the NME Top 20 Chart from the previous week
- Any tracks dropped out of the Billboard Magazine (USA) Weekly Singles Chart from the previous week
- Anything that is not in any of the above but was in last week's Effervescence Retro chart (from highest to lowest) until 40 spots are filled
Effervescence reserves the right at any time, ever, to make any adjustments or include songs from the time that did not chart in either the NME Top 20 Chart or the Billboard Magazine (USA) Weekly Singles Chart for this week
