parachutekid's countdown - week 9, 2018 (ending 2 March)

Welcome to the Week 9 edition of parachutekid's top 30. Siglon by Brisom jumps 4-1 to become the new champion. It is the second OPM #1 song for this year after Autotelic's Mapa from Week 4. Brisom replaces Paramore's single, Rose-Colored Boy, down to the salutatorian position. CHVRCHES jump 3 to number 3 in which they are alone with 10 points separating them from #2 and #4. Former #1 Finesse by Bruno Mars aided by Cardi B drops 2 to #4. Marianas Trench is back at the top 5 with a rebound from Rhythm of Your Heart. There is one new Top 10 entry, Bedroom Calling by Chromeo which also features The-Dream, leaping to #9.

There are four new entries, three of which are OPM tracks. The highest new entry is from the Australian boyband, 5 Seconds of Summer with Want You Back jumpstarting to the upper half of the chart at #15. At #19 is Ben&Ben's actually older single, Kathang Isip. I viewed the band's live session on a radio station which was the reason for the debut. At #26 is another entry from IV of Spades, Mundo. It has been rising in Spotify PH and sits at the top 5 of the Philippines Top 50 (as of this writing). Finally, a new entry from a new artist, Nadadarang by Shantidope starts its countdown run at #27. It is great for a rap song unlike the falling Hayaan Mo Sila which was just okay.

We also celebrate the retirement of the Year-end Song of 2017, Homemade Dynamite by Lorde. Its final stats are 1 week at the top position (for the original version) and 26 weeks overall (9+17). The longevity is because of the remix with rap artists, Khalid, Post Malone, and SZA. It is the first song since Parachute's Without You to spend 25+ weeks on the countdown. It is also the song with the third largest amount of weeks in the countdown, the record is 30 weeks (Parachute, "Kiss Me Slowly").

Another retirement is from Niall Horan's second single, Too Much To Ask. It's an okay song and just barely reached 20x20 status. I blame the slow chart. lol
