Waffle's Current Favourites - Week of February 3, 2024

We got a pretty busy week here, and we start off with Ariana Grande's "yes, and?" returning to the #1 spot for the 3rd week in total, although "Say Don't Go" by Taylor Swift is right behind it, back up to #2 - it's not impossible for this to possibly retake the top spot. Next we have "Whatever" by Kygo and Ava Max down off the #1 spot to #3, although I would still expect this to stick around in the Top 5 for some time, it is Ava Max after all. Finally, we have "Clean (Taylor's Version)" up a spot to #4, knocking "Is It Over Now?" down to #5.

We have 4 new arrivals this week, with the highest one being a bit of a guilty pleasure: "All Night" by IVE and Saweetie at #9 - a cover/remake of the Icona Pop song of the same name. I mean, when it's just as catchy, it's still gonna be awesome. As for the other debuts, they also come from female rappers. First up, we have a duo of Megan Thee Stallion songs at #16 and #19 respectively: "Pussy Don't Lie" with the Big Mouth Cast, as well as "HISS". We also have Ice Spice debuting at #24 with "Think U The Shit (Fart)", making this her first solo debut on my chart. And along with that, we also have a return for TWICE's "Dance Again" at #20. So what does all this replace? Well we have 2 pretty significant dropouts this week: "Cruel Summer" by Taylor Swift, which originally debuted in August 2019 alongside a bunch of other songs from Lover but re-entered and hit #1 last year, spending a total of 44 weeks on the chart across 3 different chart leaderboards - the first song to ever pull that off; and "I know it won't work" by Gracie Abrams, which debuted almost a year ago and despite only spending 2 weeks at the top, was my top song of 2023 as it spent nearly half the year in the Top 5 and 48 weeks on the chart in total - the 6th most in chart history.
