Waffle's Current Favourites - Week of March 13, 2021

This is my 100th chart on Crownnote! It's a decently interesting week here. For one, dodie's "Hate Myself" rises back up to #1 for its 5th week now - only 5 other songs have ever gotten to this milestone so this is pretty impressive, and it knocks Dua Lipa's "Not My Problem" off the top spot to #2, and Taylor Swift's "august" back down to #3. Then we have another Dua Lipa song rising back into the Top 5 with "If It Ain't Me" up to #4, and wrapping up the Top 5 we have "My Head & My Heart" down to #5. We have a few new entrants this week, although the highest one is actually a re-entry for "Hate U" back at #18 - random, I know, but it came on my shuffle and I found myself kind of addicted to that chorus again. As for the debuts, we have a new song from FLETCHER called "On Fire Again" debuting at #21, Pop Smoke posthumously makes his debut with "What You Know Bout Love" at #23 after having a few songs drop out of the Bubbling Under, and right below it we have "Already Know" by Adventure Club, Said the Sky, and Caly Bevier. Now as for what these are all replacing, we have some big dropouts this week. "Fuckedupmindd" and "gold rush" both had solid runs, but the biggest story of the week comes with the loss of both "positions" - making this the first week since the chart's inception (and let's be honest, what would've been a whole year before the chart's inception) with no Ariana Grande songs, and "Kings & Queens" by Ava Max - which came out and debuted exactly 1 year ago, spent 6 weeks at #1, and also spent 35 weeks in the Top 10 - the most out of any song. Safe to say it had a pretty excellent chart run.

Dropouts:

  • Lauren Aquilina - "Fuckedupminddd" (LW: 18, PK: 12, WKS: 16)
  • Taylor Swift - "gold rush" (LW: 19, PK: 9, WKS: 11)
  • Ariana Grande - "positions" (LW: 24, PK: 1x3, WKS: 20)
  • Ava Max - "Kings & Queens" (LW: 25, PK: 1x6, WKS: 52)
  • Last Year's #1: Doja Cat - "Say So" [4/4]
  • Biggest Rise: Dua Lipa - "We're Good" [+8]
  • Biggest Fall: Lauren Aquilina - "Latest Ghost" [–5]
