So while the last couple of weeks' charts weren't all that eventful, this week was absolutely jam-packed. The chart was definitely in a position where any kind of big disruption can really change everything...and that's exactly what happened because we have a brand new #1 song: "Hits Different" by Taylor Swift, from Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) debuting at the very top - a first for Taylor. We'll have to see how long it stays up there, but for now, I am absolutely loving it. And skipping past "Double Fantasy" by The Weeknd feat. Future down to #2, and "I know it won't work" by Gracie Abrams up a spot to #3, "Hits Different" isn't even the only Top 5 debut this week! We also have "Dance The Night" by Dua Lipa making its own big debut at #4 - likely to get even higher in the coming weeks, just couldn't quite beat out Taylor for the hot shot debut. Finally, we have "Lost The Breakup" by Maisie Peters falling to #5.
And believe it or not, there are no other new arrivals this week, just a re-entry from more Taylor Swift, with "Karma" returning to #17 after first debuting when Midnights first dropped - it probably would've re-entered higher if it weren't for her new #1 that all my attention had shifted to by the end of the week. We do have some pretty significant dropouts though, as both "Anxious" by Carly Rae Jepsen and "Dancing's Done" by Ava Max make their graceful exits after both hitting #1 some amount of months ago.
