Congrats to Sam Fender who ends up having the biggest song of 2021 with “Seventeen Going Under” which spent 3 successive weeks at no1 (back in late August/ early September) long before it became viral on tik tok. The track is now in its 25th week in the top 50 and just climbed back to into the top 3. In fact, in total, he has four singles from his album titled by the same name end up in the top 50 songs of the year.
This chart is compiled mainly based on crown note points and the magnitude of the size of the hits. For example, some hits reaching no.1 will have a much greater magnitude than others such as Adele’s comeback single “Easy On Me”. In fact despite being released only in November, it ends up being 6th biggest song of the year.
The Weeknd was prevented from having a second successive biggest song of the year (he was no.1 in the top 50 songs in 2020 with “Blinding Lights”) where his single “Save Your Tears” ends up as the second biggest single of 2021. “Blinding Lights” does achieve a rare feat of ending up in the top 50 biggest songs of the year for 3 years running (considering it was initially released in early December 2019 where it reached no.1 on my chart in its first week, long before it became huge worldwide).
Elsewhere, the likes of Mimi Webb, Olivia Rodrigo, Tom Grennan, Maisie Peters, Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, Galantis, The Kid Laroi, Sam Fischer, Becky Hill & Griff get an appearance in the top 50 songs of the year for their first time.
A shout out also to Taylor Swift who has 5 songs in the 50 of 2021. Including 3 songs which were not even official single releases. Lana Del Rey is the only other artist to achieve a similar feat with her song “Yosemite” ending in the top 50 of the year, despite not being an official single release.
Artists with more than 2 entries in the top 50 of the year:
Taylor Swift = 5
Chvrches/ London Grammar/ Sam Fender = 4
Lana Del Rey / The Weekend = 3
Demi Lovato/ Ed Sheeran/ Justin Bieber/ Maisie Peters/ Tom Grennan = 2

Love that 2021 has been an impressive year for you loved seeing Sam Fender as the song of the year Alternative did pretty well r&b slowing down for you a bit .I m surprised Adele making it in the top 10 anyways it's a pretty good impressive slow ballad .The Weeknd did well Save Your Tears despite released two years ago but I guess the remix boosted it to stick around .wow Don't Go Yet made it in the top 5 .I'm happy to see that you supporting i love Camila can't wait what the Familia album sounds. Yousee why i was saying Alternative made your year London Grammar is everywhere on your end year. Love seeing Justin Bieber and Doja Cat Streets, Sza Good Days did wonders on your chart in the top 20.Becky Hill,LORDE on the edge glad they squeezed torwads the end .Lastly I m happy to see Normani wild side as you mentioned on my chart can't wait for the debut album it will be purely r&b not so many expected because they think bubblegum pop but she said she will do a genre she loves .im even loving r&b more in 2022
