Kate Bush is the queen of 2022 with her surprise no.1 single “Running Up That Hill” which spent a mammoth (and set a new record on my chart) 11 consecutive weeks on my chart earlier this year. It was all from its clever use in the “Stranger Things” series 4 earlier this year and became a worldwide phenomenon. In fact, after 30 weeks, it continues to remain in my top 40.
Tate McRae gains her biggest ever hit on my chart with her smash hit single “She’s All I Wanna Be” which spent 3 weeks at no.1 earlier this year and ends as the runner up single of 2022. She had multiple singles enter the top 40 this year and her debut album became the 3rd best album of this year and has recently re-entered the top 10.
Elsewhere, Sam Fender who had the biggest song of 2021 with “Seventeen Going Under” also becomes the 5th best song of 2022 where it spent over one year in my top 40 single chart. He has multiple songs in the top 40 of the year and in doing so, also grabs the biggest album of 2022 spending 9 weeks at no.1 on the album charts. Albums from Taylor Swift and Dermot Kennedy were released too late towards the end of 2022 to make any dent in Sam Fender’s success on the album charts.
David Guetta and Bebe Rexha grab the biggest dance hit of the year after their clever reworking of Eiffel 65’s classic hit from 1999and they end at no.3 with “Im good (blue)”.
Latto grabs the biggest rnb hit of the year with her the remix of “Big Energy” charting as the 6th biggest hit of the year. A shout out also to Ella Henderson with her album track “Emotions” ending in the top 10 of the year despite never being released as an official single. Finally, Ella Mai has had a great 2022 on my chart with 2 singles inside the top 50 of the year and her album becoming the 6th biggest album of the year.
Artists with more than 2 singles in the top 50 of the year:
4 songs: Sam Fender
3 songs: Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Dermot Kennedy
2 songs: First Aid Kit, Camila Cabello, Ella Mai, David Guetta, Ella Henderson, Labrinth

It's no surprise Kate bush has the song of the year congratulations bro .
Tate mcrae comes in second suprised about it. I'm good made it the last minute wow wow didn't expect in the top 3 . Big Energy made it in the top 3 and the remix version preferred i i see. Anti hero made it within a short period released earlier could've been a contender to Kate bush.
Kiss me sneaked in the top 10 guess that was the favorite off from the album?
Lady gaga Top Gun soundtrack made it was little surprises . I.m not suprised Bam,DFMU, Unholy all in the top 20 they all charted deservedly throughout the year although the latter came in late. You definitely won't break my Soul made that's the dance song of the year for me and lizzo just outside top 20
. Best friend remix was a good recommendation ending the year chart with a banger. Normani did really a fair job with job i didn't expect it to end so charting higher wow wow . Another top gun Gun soundtrack from one Republic wow . Camila cabelo did well as an artist overall performance, Taylor Swift, Dermot Kennedy. Tears in the club did well that's the best recommendation from u this year I still play it on my playlist even next year .
Shirt didn't expect it on your end year chart so early .another r&b collaboration from kehlani. Congratulations the album from kehlani was part of the top 10 end year chart . Beyonce RENAISSANCE is in the top 5 of your end year chart . Sam Fender on top for another year is insane .ella mai album did so well for you i definitely didn't expect her to perform so good. Adele 30 even after it's Release in 2021 did well. Happy 2023
Hey mate, yes it was pretty easy to predict Kate Bush would be at no.1, well ahead of the pile after her 11 week stint at no.1. Tate McRae's "she's all i wanna be" was one of those songs I did not see on your chart, but it spent 30 weeks or so in my top 40 this year and was the biggest song of the year until Kate Bush stole her thunder. I only heard about Latto after the remix was released, otherwise I probably would have slept on "bg energy". Yes, Anti- Hero probably would have ended as no.2 of 2022 if she was released earlier in the year but still not as big as Kate Bush. I like "better days" from Dermot's album although it was released in 2021. I think "kiss me" was the most radio friendly song off his album, and hence still doing well for me. Great video to the song too along with a positive message. Lady Gaga spent 2 weeks at no.1 for me, and I was surprised it was not as big worldwide as it is such an epic pop ballad. Yes, you recommended the "best friends" remix with Summer Walker and it eventually was the song that knocked off Kate Bush from no.1. Normani did go to number 1 for me, I think for 2 weeks, and it was a great slow rnb tune. However, I did not think it was going to be the last song that she would release in 2022. Yes, Camila did ok, I do like her voice and she does well whichever song she features in, similar to Normani. Oh yes, I think I have recommended some FKA Twings songs for you, of which "tears in the club" was a hot for me at the start of the year. "Shirt" has remained in the top 5 for 2 months so its doing well. Yes, Kehlani, Beyonce and Ella Mai's albums have been played a lot this year. Sam Fender has not left my top 10 album chart since its release in October 2021. Adele's 30 was still doing well on my chart between Jan to April before dropping out and made a re-entry later this year when she released "i drink wine". Happy new year to you to buddy. Thanks for all your comments and for your suggestions of music.
Hey Zack!
No surprise to see Kate Bush getting your #1 song of 2022, as well as seeing "She's All I Wanna Be", "Head On Fire", "Seventeen Going Under", "Anti-Hero" and "Kiss Me" in the top 10 and lots of other songs in your Year-End list.
Great year-end chart! I did one as well for my charts.
Take care and I wish you a happy new year!
